The Art of Modern Conjuring Magic and IllusionsHenri GarenneFrom the introduction: I have written this work not as an exposure of the art of Conjuring and Magic, but simply to act as a guide for amateurs and young beginners; therefore I shall enumerate many tricks and illusions that my young friends can perform at home amongst their numerous friends. In addition to this, I shall also enumerate those tricks and illusions which demand a larger amount of room, and also require specially constructed apparatus; such tricks the amateur would do well not to attempt, as they are only suitable for performance on a stage. I shall give a description of most... | ★★★★★ $8 to wish list
QuartetJohn ScarneIt's a devilishly clever method with four different presentations. You'll likely think of several more. There's a You-Do-As-I-Do effect, a Card Climax, a Phone Miracle, and Scarne's Best Prediction. No sleights. Simple, sure, and direct. Can be worked surrounded by spectators and dead easy to perform. All you require is the instructions, as no gimmicks are used. Use anyone's cards. If you think that the pandemic is limiting your performance opportunities, you'll especially like Scarne's Phone Miracle. All you need is a spectator with a smartphone or landline. And, unlike virtually every... | ★★★★★ $8 to wish list
Amateur MagicianJ. Dazley TheobaldFrom the preface: The object of this work is to thoroughly explain to the Amateur Magician the various subterfuges which are made use of by Professional Conjurors to mystify their audiences, and to afford such instructions as shall enable any person to give a private performance. That there is plenty of room for a work on the subject of magical secrets and contrivances is evident by the few books that are in circulation, and even some of these are of but slight value, as they give graphic descriptions of what tricks are performed, while but scant and imperfect explanations of how they are... | ★★★★★ $8 to wish list

Cross Lock Penetration: Magic More SeriesKen MullerA novel and powerful ring on rope effect. The cord is woven about your spread fingers to form an impassible gate with a loop beneath. The ends are far from the metal ring, yet it visually jumps onto the loop. No gimmick or unnatural moves. Opportunities for audience participation and you can be completely surrounded. Idea for when a ring & rope effect is added to a linking rings routine, cut and restored rope or stand-alone for walk-around or table hopping as a prelude to a later routine. However, this effect is so impossible in comparison with many simpler ring on rope effects to... | $8 to wish list
Any Card At Any ValueJoseph B.This effect has such a subtle method. If you want to destroy your spectator with a killer effect, this is the one. This effect is a mix of impossible location, ACAAN and impossible revelation. Joseph has often used this effect as an opener and always got great reactions. You have all the material at home to construct the deck. You introduce a deck of cards and instruct a spectator to cut about a third of the deck and place it to the side. The card cut to is remembered by the spectator and also put aside. The spectator shuffles the part cut off and the performer shuffles the remainder of... | ★★★★★ $8 to wish listMP4 (video)
Four Choice Rings: F.U.N. Ring SeriesKen MullerA unique method of unlinking a chain of four metal rings based on audience choices and engagement that provides patterns for future deception, and acquitment for previous sleights. This is a performance module and not a full effect/presentation, that can be used with any linking ring routine. It is an extraction from the Primal Rings ebook that contains the development logic and credits. This module uses a standard 4-ring set of metal 4-8" rings with several recommended modifications. A dangled chain of four metal rings is gathered into a fan display from which a single, spectator chosen ring is... | $8 to wish list

Hypnotising AnimalsSupreme-Magic-CompanyVery little on this fascinating subject has been published before, but you will find some references in Oriental Conjuring and Magic by Will Ayling and also in the books of Stanton Carlisle. Let us make it quite clear that it is not possible to place an animal under genuine hypnosis. What you do is to induce a sort of muscular paralysis which has no ill effects on the animal subjects used. You will learn to do this for a variety of animals, including hens, roosters, rabbits, ducks, and even reptiles and frogs. 1st edition 1982, 3 pages; PDF 4 pages. | ★★★★★ $8 to wish list
Most Impossible DiviniationJoseph B.As you can understand from the title this is an impossible divination. The method is becoming more and more diabolical. The effect is a classic: the spectator chooses a card and the magician finds it. Here, however, the conditions are strict for the magician. There is seemingly no way the magician could find the card. The deck is shuffled while the performer looks away. Despite this, he will be able to find the chosen card face down. All this with a normal, borrowed, totally impromptu deck.

Further Thought on CardsJ. Stewart SmithJ. Stewart Smith presents more of his mystifying card effects, accomplished without knuckle-busting sleight of hand. The author was something of an enigma, eschewing public performances in favor of fooling magicians and mentalists at magic conventions. After a process of continual refinements from demonstrating his effects under the critical eyes of magicians, he would assemble a small number of his latest creations and issue them in small, limited-edition booklets. To say that his books are hard to come by is a gross understatement. This is a shame since the magic is priceless. Smith was... | $8 to wish list

Out of ControlJoseph B.Out of Control is a surprising, impossible location effect. The magician never touches the deck or even looks at it because the spectator will do everything under the table including two riffle shuffles and several cuts. Yet despite these stringent premises, the magician will be able to find the spectator's card face down in the spread of the deck. Great reactions especially from fellow magicians.
