The magician presents to the spectator a deck of blue backed cards and shows that this is just a regular deck of 52 cards. The magician places the deck, face up, on a table. This is the last time that the magician will touch the deck.

The magician invites the spectator to cut the deck approximately in half and place it next to the original pile. The spectator is then invited to select one of the two piles which is then put to one side.

From the selected pile the magician invites the spectator to deal the cards face-up and to stop at ANY card they wish. This gives them a genuinely free...

You show five cards completely blank on both sides. A card is selected from a regular deck (say the QH). The same card appears on the face of every blank card. Then all the cards are blank again including the spectator’s selection; this card now re-appears face up in the middle of the deck!

This is an amazing close-up trick which is a mystery to any audience. Two cards are selected from a deck of cards. You show several Jokers. One at a time, the Jokers turn over and during this process change one by one into duplicates of the first card. Then, all together they change into duplicates of the second selected card!

The routine is based on Frank Garcia's "Five-Card Stunner" but also on handlings by Ken de Courcy and Herb Rungay. It is perfect for stand-up performers (parlor or stage) with no table required. You show a black card (say the 9C) and four red cards. When the cards are fanned, there are only four and they are all red; the black card has vanished. You eliminate one red card and then you remove the missing black card from the pocket. Again the cards are shown and then fanned. There are three red cards; the black card vanishes for the second time. You eliminate another red card and remove the black...

An uncanny demonstration of apparent thought-reading.

THREE SMASH HITS: You show a packet of cards (saying that it contains the four Queens) and leave it aside. You also show another packet of four cards and they are seen to be the four Queens. A spectator FREELY touches any card and this is revealed to be, say, the QC.

FIRST EFFECT: The QC is seen to be the only reversed card in the other packet.

SECOND EFFECT: This card has a red back, while the other three are blue-backed cards.

THIRD EFFECT: The three blue-backed cards are seen to have blank faces.

In the late twenties Larsen & Wright (William Larsen, Sr. and T. Page Wright) were prominent names in magic. They produced a flood of contributions to magic magazines, over one hundred in The Sphinx alone in 1927-28 (so many in fact that The Sphinx felt compelled to publish much of it under a variety of pseudonyms). But in addition there were the Larsen & Wright publications, a large series of printed books and manuscripts offering a mass of original material not appearing in the periodicals.

When T. Page Wright died tragically in 1930, he left behind the finished manuscript for a mooted book. Incredibly,...

Imagine if you had real magical powers. How would you make four aces appear at your fingertips? Picture bringing your hands together, in front of you, and an ace magically appears between them. Without hesitation, you take this newly-produced card, and effortlessly split it into two aces. The audience's gaze is riveted to your hands. Fearful of missing your next move, they don't even blink. The third ace materializes right out of thin air - at your fingertips....

EFFECT #1: The magician opens up a card wallet displaying some playing cards torn in four pieces, each of them held by a rubber band. He explains, "Those are a few of the wrong predictions I've made in the past. Since then, I've learnt to keep being positive. For example, this one was wrong at the time it was made, but what if it was just right today?" You move this one aside and pocket the rest.

A spectator selects any two-digit number up to 50. The deck is dealt accordingly to make up a card, selecting a value and a suit. Despite the huge range of possible outcomes, the prediction that...

A deck is shuffled. While the performer's back is turned, one spectator selects and remembers a card, which he then loses into the deck. No one knows where this card is. Its identity is known only to the spectator. Now, a second spectator merely thinks of a number. The performer mixes the cards further, and spreads them face up to show the cards to be completely mixed. The second spectator now, for the 1st time, reveals her thought of number. The spectator is handed the deck. She deals the cards one at a time until she reaches her thought of number. The card arrived at is the card being thought...

An effect by Paul Gordon performed by Aldo Colombini. You show some Jokers. The backs of the cards are red. One Joker with a big X on its back is placed among the cards and now all the cards have a big X on their backs. One card with a big O on its back is placed among the cards and now all the cards have big O’s on their backs. Finally, the cards are all back to normal. The big surprise comes when five cards are turned over and a letter appears on each card spelling the word MAGIC (or any other message, a Royal Flush, etc).
