Matt Shea

Matt Shea is an Amercian author born July 25, 1957 in Seattle Washington. His writings evolve around the common man. Factories, schools and middle American neighborhoods are where most of his settings take place. His characters range from senior citizens to children; from the lonely to the disadvantaged.

Matt is a proud family member of the Shea family from Beacon Hill, Washington. They were simply an average family from an average community. His parents along with his three brothers and two sisters always had an open door policy for the entire neighborhood. He also has a daughter named, Laura whose childhood showed the pureness of youth and appreciation of simple things. The family values were based on accepting others with a particular focus on seniors citizens and the disadvantaged.

Matt studied three years at Washington State University and worked for the Teamsters union for thirty two. He retired in June of 2010 to pursue his childhood ambition of becoming an author. The environment where he was raised and the factories he worked in gave him a deep respect for that average person in normal everyday life. It's only those that are underestimated, overlooked or misunderstood that Matt Shea writes about. When it's all said and done; an understanding is achieved. The justice of redemption sets in with acceptance being the final touch.

Matt Shea's first book; The Groundskeeper And Other Short Stories is based on these values. His second book; Chase A Special Person takes a look at the trials of an intellectually challenged teenager - and the inspiration that comes with it. Matt Shea's writings are from the heart and are designed to motivate and inspire.
