Rani Rubdy

Rani Rubdy has taught for a number of years in the Department of English Language and Literature at the National Institute of Education, Nanyang Technological University, Singapore. Prior to her position as Associate Professor at NIE, she also taught at the National University of Singapore, Assumption University, Bangkok and the Central Institute of English and Foreign Languages, Hyderabad, India. She has over 60 research articles and book reviews published in World Englishes, Journal of Multilingual and Multicultural Development, International Journal of the Sociology of Language, Language Teaching, ELT Journal, System, Applied Linguistics, TESOL Quarterly, Language and Education and the RELC Journal. Books edited by her include English in the World: Global Rules, Global Roles (with Mario Saraceni) (Continuum 2006); Language as Commodity: Global Structures, Local Marketplaces (with Peter K. W. Tan) (Continuum 2008); Asian Englishes: Changing Perspectives in a Globalised World (with Lawrence Zhang and Lubna Alsagoff) (Pearson 2011); and more recently, The Global-Local Interface: Exploring Language and Identity (with Lubna Alsagoff) (Multilingual Matters 2014).
