Spell-Binder Magazine by Stephen Tucker

Stephen Tucker was the publisher, editor, illustrator and creative genius behind Spell-Binder Magazine. It ran for three years and had 36 issues and 710 pages.

You will find some of the finest close-up magic effects: David Britland alone contributed 40 items, there were 6 new effects from Basil Horwitz, 4 from Jerry Sadowitz, 2 from Gazzo, 5 from Gordon Bruce, 3 from Roy Walton, 9 from Phil Goldstein, 12 from Reinhard Muller, 5 from Al Smith 2 from Bobby Bernard, 4 from Harvey Rosenthal, 7 from Ian Land, 12 from Paul Brignal, 7 from Peter Duffie, 6 from Roger Curzon, 6 from Shiv Duggal, 7 from Wayne Dobson and 109 from Stephen Tucker. Stephen has captured the creative spirit of the magic of the 1980s. Original copies of this magazine are like gold dust and almost impossible to find.

Spell-Binder Magazine was one of the most radical and different close up magazines of the 1980's and it was illustrated throughout by Stephen Tucker and along with Pabular was considered to be an important contribution to the art of close up magic in Britain. The magazine was produced mainly during the period when Stephen Tucker and David Britland worked at the Magic Lounge which was a studio Martin Breese ran in London for several years.

[To learn the four routines Stephen Tucker thinks are the best from this magazine see the Spell Binder Volume 1 download DVD.]

I just purchased this download and already have my money's worth of great ideas and I have only read the first couple of issues. At over 700 pages this is going to take some time to get through. It has been said the way to keep a secret is to put it in print. Some of the best minds in the 80's contributed to this magazine - I am looking forward to savoring every page.
