Houdini never explicitly revealed the methods he used to accomplish his feats. After his death, it was too tempting to cash in on revealing his methods. This book can certainly be called informed since J.C. Cannell was a close friend of Will Goldston who in turn was a personal friend of Harry Houdini. A good amount of biographical information is included which makes this ebook a fascinating read for anybody who would like to know more about Houdini and his remarkable career.

The last few years have been a bit complicated for everyone, due to events that have influenced the lives of all of us, inhabitants of planet earth. We struggled, we resisted, we got out. In my methodical (and stubborn) search for effects to propose over the phone, numbers are the absolute protagonist. Except for some small stratagem, the final principle is always the consequence of one or more mathematical principles. Inspired by some well-known effects, I became curious and tried to go back to the principles, so as to be able to use them, alone or with others, to generate other interesting combinations. A card is selected and signed by the audience and is lost back in the deck. A coin is signed by the audience and placed on top of the deck. With a wave of your hand and the coin vanishes from the top and appears above their signed card in the middle of the deck.

The performer turns around so they are facing away from the participants. They then ask the participants to switch the coin between themselves multiple times and when finished to finally hide it in one of their hands so that the performer does not know who has possession of the coin or which hand it is in.

There are not many short biography compilations in magic and this one by Goldston is still one that is being consulted frequently. The most extensive one is by Bart Whaley (Who's Who in Magic) but while Whaley covers many more magicians he does not include portraits. Goldston includes many portraits of magicians and his biographical sketches can sometimes be much more extensive than in other such compilations. Goldston groups magicians as professionals, semi-professionals, and amateurs. He covers 90 professional magicians, 50 semi-professional magicians, and 69 amateurs.
