While this has been written in the 60s, the basics of how to promote, advertise, and build your performing business hasn't changed that much. Of course, you will do the things recommended with modern tools, but the principles and ideas to achieve success haven't changed.

As an advertising man, Mr. Tallman has a lot of ideas on how to promote and get the most out of advertising. He is a very busy magician and this is entirely due to the methods in his book. Let him prove to you how he gets an average of 85 shows a year, and how you can do it, too.

This work is something special, something completely unique. It is the product of a several decades long love affair of Benedykt Krajdener and the pasteboards. This routine is done from a shuffled deck, under fire, and on the spot. You will never have to remember more than five words at one time so you can talk and you can concentrate on your presentation. An Ambitious Card routine which cleverly uses the Card Box to heighten the effect.

Effect:

This is not a card trick, it's a trick with cards.

The spectator freely selects, signs and returns the card from a shuffled deck. The illusionist explains that card tricks have become too complicated, and he wants to keep it simple and use just the selected card. The magician picks up the card case, still holding the deck, and shows the card case at all sides and completely empty.

The magician then places the deck square on the face of the card case. The front of the card case can be clearly seen as the cards are being placed. The card case with the deck on top is placed...

This is a 'cards through case' effect, but completely different than older versions. This effect takes a classic stage illusion and puts it in the spectator's hands.

Four random cards are selected by the spectator. The four cards are placed inside a card case and given to the spectator to hold at their fingertips.

Three of the four cards are removed, leaving the final card inside of the card case. The remaining three cards are then pushed through the side of the card case and the selected card.

This can be viewed from all angles whilst the spectator is holding the case.

Obviously you need to use paper money that is compatible with the width of the cards you are using. Often bills can be trimmed slightly if they are too wide.

This is a very subtle method to find a freely chosen (not forced) card. It needs some prior preparation, but the deck (cards) are not altered in any way. After the effect there is nothing left to detect and the cards can be handed out or given away.

The method to locate the chosen card is not sleight-of-hand based. But to present it properly you will need some basic card handling skills such as shuffling, cutting, and spreading cards. Depending on how you choose to produce the chosen card you may need to be able to cull...
