In 1993 at the Society of American Magicians annual convention in New Orleans, Larry Becker received the Milbourne Christopher Foundation Literary Award for this outstanding contribution to the art of Mentalism and Magic. Here's a terrific book containing ten tricks, using cards, a magic wand, rope, and other items associated with the magic arts. Most of the effects require no special apparatus. What little is needed can easily be constructed. We think modern performers will really enjoy the card rise, where the action takes place with a borrowed deck! Also of interest will be "Through the Five-Spot," which is an impossible solid-through-solid effect where a five of spades visibly melts through the center of the magician's wand.

This is a brand new Lance Burton puzzle from the collectible puzzle series. It is design #3. The box is still in its original shrink wrap and has never been opened. As the cover states, the puzzle is 18" x 24" when assembled. Manufactured by Marcelo Contento Productions in Watertown, MA, USA.

The performer takes a deck of cards, lets the spectator pick a card and gives it back. The performer then takes the card, rips it into 4 pieces and slowly, one by one, the cards morph back into place as they started out even before they were ripped. At the end of the routine, the dents are visually ironed out and, in the spectators hands, is their card - perfectly normal!

Out of 52 cards the spectator names any card. The magician opens a deck of cards and shows all the cards are blue, except for the spectator's card. Its the only card with a red back.

This a another handling on the old "Invisible Deck - Brain Wave" card trick.

It is organized into 27 lessons and teaches many wonderful and fun shapes from the anchor to the sword and from the lighthouse to the dove. Use lexicon or any 26 alphabet cards to present an astonishing display of mentalism and memory.

Effect: The mentalist thoroughly shuffles a set of 26 letter cards (the complete alphabet). One unidentified card is removed from the deck. Then three members of the audience divide the rest of the pack among themselves, shuffle their hands and call out in turn the letters they are holding.

Sponge balls are some of the best props you can imagine. They are cheap, light, can be pressed tiny, easy to manipulate, appropriate for kids and adults, and are very visual.

This routine plays big for walk around, close-up and street magic. Collier used this one often as opener to gather a crowd. You will need three sponge balls! The manuscript includes Collier's entire patter.

A parlor sized ring with a stage sized routine.

This is a compact ring and string routine which uses some of the most visual moves one can do with these props. For many years I have performed a very similar routine. I used a red cotton ribbon instead of the standard white rope, because a ribbon lies flat on the ring and is wider than a rope allowing for some sequences a stronger illusion.

Coloring books are one of the easiest tricks on the market to master. Due to this fact, you can concentrate on the presentation. You can do a six to seven minute routine with this wonderful item. This is a routine that can be chopped down to whatever time frame you need, simply by eliminating portions of it. This publication is intended to give you a general working knowledge of the parts of a stage and how to use them. It covers stage construction, stage terminology, lighting and cue sheets. This will give you a nutshell version of subjects that would normally take three book volumes to cover.

A general working knowledge will help you present your act in the best possible way. Most of the legitimate theaters require union workers to run the theater. They appreciate it when you know what you want, what their facility has to offer and how to ask for it.

The magician pulls out a six foot piece of rope, pulls it up in the center and clearly cuts the rope into two pieces. He then picks up the bottom ends, brings them to the top and the rope fully restores. He then grabs the rope by the middle and cuts it in half again. He trims off the pieces at the top and the rope restores a second time.

He folds the rope into thirds and cuts it at the top and bottom. He clearly counts off the three separate and equal pieces from one hand to the other. With all the pieces held in one hand he brings the bottom ends to the top and individually pulls out three...
