This effect appears described briefly, yet adequately, in the Singapore Lecture Notes. This is a more thorough description and is accompanied by clear photographs, making it easier to learn.

The routine uses four black cards, and four red cards. Interlaced three times, they always separate. The moves used are smooth and create a lovely illusion. It does not look like sleight of hand, it really looks quite convincing! Heavily based in Marlo's work.

This is one of Ben Harris's favorite effects. Released in 1987, it featured heavily in his lectures across the '87-89 period and was a total sell-out at the major magic conventions, or whenever demonstrated.

In effect, a small envelope is shown, signed on BOTH sides by a spectator, and then left IN FULL VIEW upon the table. A card is now FREELY selected from the deck, and also signed. The spectator pushes his card squarely into the deck and then counts the cards. Mysteriously, his card has vanished. There are now just 51 cards in the deck.

They pick a card (no force), they return it to the deck, they shuffle - as much as they want. You pull out a written prediction (genuinely pre-written; no swami) and it tells them how many cards from the top of the deck their card will be after shuffling. They - or the performer - deals down to that number of cards and there it is, their card at the predicted location.

Note: The prediction may be off by one, two, three or possibly more places depending on how well you master this skill. You will also need a stripper deck even though you will not be using it to strip out any cards.

Why do ACAAN with one deck when you can up the apparent impossibility with two decks? That's the beauty of Arbitrium.

Imagine removing a prediction card and placing it in your pocket. You then bring out two decks, one with numbered cards and one standard deck. The spectator makes an actual free choice from each deck, selecting one number and one playing card. Verrall Wass takes us through his card tricks from manipulation to mechanical stage/platform effects. The ebook is split into two sections, one describing effects with regular sized cards, the other with giant cards.

The last chapter espouses some of his personal ideas as to magical presentation and psychic phenomenon. Robert Harbin even donated an effect to this collection - "The Card in a Lemon." Many of the ideas in this ebook have been hibernating since 1936 and need to be performed for the public.

The final wave is a very visual card routine. It requires what is typically called a 'bastard hard move'. I can therefore only recommend this effect to the hard core card experts who are willing to put the necessary work into this move.

Of course, if you like the effect you can exchange the difficult move with other easier moves, but it will be hard to achieve the same clean and direct performance without it.

This is the first and to this date one of only two English publications exclusively devoted to the rising card effect (the other being Knowing the Rising Cards). This was an early publication by U. F. Grant and is therefore exceedingly rare. Some of the methods described are well known others are quite unusual and therefore highly interesting.

It is likely that the effect of the houlette swinging on two ribbons in Samuel Hooker's famous rising cards is done exactly the way U. F. Grant describes in this manuscript.

This is classic Juan Tamariz, a longer routine with four effects. It uses the Tamariz memorized deck. In the explanation part Juan gives you the exact sequence of his memorized deck. Important to know is that there are no difficult moves. Most of the heavy lifting is done by the stack itself and some false shuffles and false cuts.

This is one of Andrew's favourite routines. He has been performing Kollectors Revisited for many years in his act and he regards this effect as his pet routine.

This effect plays big and best of all, it's impromptu and can be performed with a borrowed deck.
