Modern Card Miracles

Hugh R. Johnston & F. B. Sterling
Modern Card Miracles by Hugh R. Johnston & F. B. Sterling

A complete card-act with patter.

This ebook describes moves and routines for a stacked deck. The authors are using the Si Stebbins stack, but most of what is taught applies to other stacks, memorized or algorithmic. At the very end a simply two person code is taught.

Dornfield, President of the Chicago Society of Magicians writes in The Sphinx magazine, November 1919 page 209:

"On the same program, Hugh Johnston put over his line of incomprehensible sliders and puzzlers. The way that fellow can make a card or a whole deck do his bidding is nothing short of miraculous. He is at present busily engaged in conducting the only...

Monk Stack

Unknown Mentalist
Monk Stack by Unknown Mentalist

The Monk Stack is a simple cyclical stack. It was designed to solve two famous problems of the Si Stebbins stack and the 8 Kings stack. Like the Si Stebbins stack, this does not have an obvious sequence. And unlike the 8 Kings, this does not need the memorization of a mnemonic.

In fact, the single, simple rule of the Monk Stack is so easy that you will learn the stack instantly after reading the rule. Not only that, it will also be almost impossible for you to forget the rule thereafter. Frankly, the cool rule which is the core of the Monk Stack can be stated in just one single sentence....

My Favorite Easy Mental Card Magic

My Favorite Easy Mental Card Magic by George B. Anderson...

Clocking in at a hair over twenty-one pages, Anderson walks the reader (in detail) through eleven of his favorite mind-reading effects, using straightforward techniques like the Si Stebbins set-up or sneaky gimmicks like Wite-Out or paraffin wax.

Simple while not simplistic, the tricks included in MY FAVORITE EASY MENTAL CARD MAGIC are a refreshing change of pace from practicing technically complicated sleight-of-hand (and failing miserably).

New Card Tricks with the Mark Twain Stack

Dick Cole
New Card Tricks with the Mark Twain Stack by Dick Cole

The Mark Twain stack is a Si Stebbins stack with a four-apart sequence in SHoCkeD order. It was first published in the February 1935 issue of Modern Mechanix and Inventions magazine. This is a reproduction of this article.

The Mark Twain stack, also called the Riverboat stack (see for example Magic Card System), due to the abundant gambling on Mississippi riverboats, gets its name from the practice on these riverboats to frequently having to measure the water depth. If it was two marks, pronounced 'mark twain', it was ok.

Next Stack

Unknown Mentalist
Next Stack by Unknown Mentalist

The Next Stack is a cyclical stack that is as easy to learn as the Si Stebbins stack but can withstand scrutiny, unlike the Stebbins stack. In the Stebbins stack, the increment of 3 or 4 could be visible to a participant if observed keenly. But in the Next Stack it is almost impossible to recognize the sequence.

The Next Stack is named as such because literally it is based on the "Next" principle, which is a novel, innovative principle. Given any card you can instantly know the next card.

It will take all of 5 minutes for you to learn this cool principle and start applying it. This principle...

Optik Deck

Unknown Mentalist
Optik Deck by Unknown Mentalist...
The idea, in theory, is great. This is an easy way to memorize the number cards in a deck. However, the description is very misleading.

First, when someone looks at the deck, most of the cards are clumped together with their matching four mates. While there is no "pattern," it's obvious and very suspicious looking. In other words, the deck looks like the cards are placed in a specific order and not random at all. The basic Si Stebbins looks more random than this. Even a quick glance at the cards and they just look wrong. I can't even ribbon spread through the deck in portions because most of the cards are clumped together. In other words, spreading through any six or seven cards will almost always show a four of a kind...

Rasik Deck by Unknown Mentalist

A classik twist to a classik stack. Now this 2nd edition includes a printable image of the Rasik Deck stack for visual practice and a cool method suggested by Rick Silberman for getting into the Rasik Deck stack from new deck order.

A Shocked Duchess became Si Stebbins' Karma (Destiny). If Si Stebbins would have learnt the Karma Deck this would have been the result. The Rasik Deck is the surprising result of applying the Karma Deck principle to the age old Si Stebbins stack. Recycled Stebbins by Steve Sanders

We all think we know the Si Stebbins Stack, so did I, until I dug a bit deeper. This publication describes the stack used by Si Stebbins himself and it's not the old favourite that we all know and love.

Not just a one-trick pony, a deck of cards set up in the Si Stebbins System can be used to build a complete card routine, consisting of many different card effects. Six such effects are described and explained in this text. Also included is a simple diary or planner with a named card at every date, which can be used in the "Planner Ahead" effect.

Selfworking Contactless ACAAN

Selfworking Contactless ACAAN by Biagio Fasano

A.C.A.A.N. effects are a genre of effects now considered classics in card magic and mentalism, ever since David Berglas, who precisely first proposed a legendary version of it, called it "Any card At Any Number."

The idea of trying to write this special eBook came about while I was preparing my Contactless Automatic Card At Number series of Volumes (now at 6 Volumes) and experimenting in particular with the possibility of creating new automatic effects by making use of various stacks, including Si Stebbins and my VR Stack Pro (see Vol. 2 & 3):

From here to examining the Si Stebbins Pro, devised by Dr. Hans Christian Solka, was a short step, and with pleasure...
