#2 in Magic hot-listAt last, here is a new illusion effect and one that any performer may own. Yet, here is an illusion which will compete with the best of them and it will not cost you several hundred dollars to own it or even a tenth of that. In my opinion this is more effective than the Interlude Illusion at a fraction of the cost.
EFFECT: Setting at the center of the stage are four chairs, in a row facing the audience. There is a space between the two center chairs wide enough for the performer to walk through. A girl assistant is then placed in a reclining position across the seats of the four chairs. Two card tables, with the legs folded in, are then leaned against the front of the chairs. They are placed so that the girl's head is visible at one end, her feet visible at the other end, and the central portion of her body is visible at the center.
The performer then stands at the center behind the girl and holds a cloth stretched out so that it hangs down in front of the central exposed portion of the girl's body. The performer now walks forward and apparently WALKS RIGHT THROUGH THE MIDDLE OF THE GIRL, while her head and feet are in full view!
The illusion is little-known, as it did not appear in the various Grant illusion books. Most magicians are not familiar with this effect, which means it is not overdone today and it will be a novelty to your audiences.
In some cases, the chairs and tables can be found at the venue you are working. Extremely easy to do, yet very baffling.
