
Apollos O. Nwauwa
Dr. Apollos Okwuchi Nwauwa is Professor of African History and Director of Africana Studies at Bowling Green State University, Bowling Green, Ohio. Born, raised and educated in Nigeria at the Bendel State (now Ambrose Alli) University, Ekpoma, Dr. Nwauwa earned his MA and PhD degrees in African History from Dalhousie University, Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada in 1993. He has been teaching in colleges in the United States for over 20 years, beginning with Rhode Island College and Brown University both in Providence, Rhode Island before joining Bowling Green State University, Ohio, in 2000. Dr. Nwauwa's teaching and research interests focus on modern Africa and African diaspora. He has published over 30 scholarly books and articles on diverse subjects relating to African and African Diaspora history in many prestigious international journals including Anthropos (Germany) Cahiers D' Etudes Africaines (France); Africa Quarterly (India); Journal of Asian and African Studies (Israel); History in Africa (USA); Canadian Journal of African Historical Studies (Canada); Ife Journal of History (Nigeria); Ufahamu (USA); and International Journal of African Studies (USA). Dr. Nwauwa serves on the editorial board of many journals, was Guest-Editor of a special issue of the International Journal of African Studies in 2007, and currently the editor of Ofo: Journal of Transatlantic Studies.
