(Albany, New York: 15th October 1903 - 6th September 1994)

Stage name since age 7 of Gordon Eugene Avery. Inspired at age 7, seeing Tex McGuire act, and immediately purchased the Appearing Flower Bush by catalog. Co-founder/owner of mail-order Wayne Magic Company 1919-20. At age 18 in 1922 co-founded the IBM (with Len Vintus, Don Rogers being recruited by them as Member #3) and became the first co-editor (with Ernest Schieldge) of The Linking Ring 1922-26. Pro in 1925 to semi-pro comedy performer with a Lyceum and vaude show. Pro dealer (Gene Gordon's Magic Shop) 1945-69 in Buffalo, NY. 1981 AMA Masters Fellowship.

Invented Piff Paff Poof in the early 1930s. Wrote "Patter and Presentation" column in New Tops. Autobio is Gene Gordon's Magical Legacy (1980, 364pp). Column in Linking Ring.
