Ioannis S. Arvanitoyannis

Ioannis S. Arvanitoyannis (ISA) graduated from the Department of Chemistry of Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (1984), and did two PhDs; the 1st on synthetic polymers for food packaging applications and the 2nd on physical chemistry of foods from Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Greece (Dept of Chemistry, (1990)) and Nottingham University, UK (Dept of Food Science and Applied Microbiology, School of Agricultural Sciences, (1993)),respectively. ISA worked as postdoc in Loughborough University of Technology (England)for 2 years and in Osaka National Research Institute (Japan) for 3 years and in Ciba-Geigy Research Institute for Plastics (Fribourg, Suisse) for 1 year. He has been appointed Assistant Professor in Food Quality Control in School of Agricultural Sciences of Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (Greece, 1994). In March 2000, ISA was elected Assistant Professor in Food Technology in University of Thessaly (Volos, Greece). Since January 2013 he is Professor on Food Technology in University of Thessaly (Greece). He is author of more than 230 publications research articles (125), reviews (80), book chapters (50) and books (15). His books are on Food Quality, Food Safety and application of ISO 22000/HACCP to foods, Application of ISO 14001 to the Food and Drinks Industry, Food Packaging, Total Quality Management in the Food Industry, Food Technology, Implementation of ISO 9001 to the Food Industry, Waste management for the Food Industries among others. He has been member of the editorial board of five international journals, Associate Editor of International Journal of Food Science and Technology, and reviewer for more than 30 international journals. ISA enjoys international reputation and has more than 3500 cross-references. He has also participated in more than 15 research projects out of which 7 were sponsored by the European Commission.
