John Shillito is a retired widower who lives in a lovely hamlet in the north of Linconshire with Scooby the dog and five cats. He has written poetry for years on scraps of paper which were usually discarded, but arthritis meant that his fingers insisted on using a computer, which saved the poems written since 2009. He has previously worked as a laborer, graphic artist, manager of a national repair chain and a variety of other occupations.
The rhyming poetry reflects the blessings and heartache of having furry lodgers, some being personal recollections of specific pets and some of a more general nature about mainly cats and dogs - such as the the title poem, Pawprints on my Heart.
