Stage name of William H. Lane. Wealthy fruit wholesaler in Croyden. Took lessons from Edward Victor. Semi-pro magician. His act was that of a tipsy man to whom weird things happened. 1947 Paris International Magic Congress 1st prize for presentation; 1948 FISM Grand Prix.

Founder of ARCAS magic publishing house 1945. Wrote Willane's Wizardry (1947, 64pp). Edited the 14 vols of Methods for Miracles (n.d.). See Rae Hammond, Willane's Complete Methods for Miracles (1985; repr 1994).
