David J. Lustig
(USA: 4th September 1893 - 30th September 1977) Aka "La Vellma". Pro vaude magus and vent since 1910. Later switched to mind-reading. Wrote and directed silent movies for Stellar Productions in NY City 1923-25. Theater manager there 1925-27. Began some ghost-writing for Dunninger in late 1920s.
Wrote several booklets since 1920, including Magic and Mind Reading Tricks You Can Do (1920, 51pp), Vaudeville Magic (1920, 30pp), Vaudeville Ventriloquism (1920, 29pp, with Robert W. Doidge), La Vellma's Vaudeville Budget (1921, 85pp), Vaudeville Mind Reading and Kindred Phenomena (1929, 64pp); Vaudeville Hypnotism (1930, 35pp); The Art of Thought Reading (1956).
On Dunninger's payroll designing many of his "Brainbuster" tests 1943-47. Ended career as movie publicity agent for Columbia. SAM Hall of Fame.
