This is without a doubt the most powerful effect in my repertoire. The reactions it consistently generates from audiences are nothing short of astounding, and what makes it even more remarkable is it's easy to do. The psychological principles throughout this effect are truly fascinating - from the way it plays with expectations to how it builds and releases tension. Each of these psychological elements has been carefully crafted to create maximum impact, and these same principles can be effectively applied to enhance numerous other effects in your performances.
Effect: In this compelling presentation of destiny the magician asks the spectators if they believe in fate. The two spectators each think of a card. The magician counts through a red-back deck face-up, asking the spectators to remember where their cards appear, the number. The deck contains only 50 cards - reveals an intriguing twist - neither thought of cards appears! The magician then looks through a Blue-back deck and finds two red-backed cards - the very cards the spectators merely thought of. Continuing through the blue deck, the magician finds the blue-backed versions of these same cards. When all four cards are turned face down, they spell out the word "Fate!" Upon examination, it becomes apparent that the remaining blue-backed cards are without letters on the backs.
- Easy to do
- No Sleight of Hand
- No Forces - different results each time
- No math or fishing
- No memory work
- The spectators do not name their cards before you show they vanished from the red deck.
- No rough and smooth.
- No mis-indexed or specially printed or gaffed cards.
- No electronics.
- One second reset.
This is a miracle that you will do over and over. You will need three decks for this effect, one with a different back than the other two.
