Nom de magique of C[harles] Goodliffe Neale. Inspired around age 7 by semi-pro neighbor De Brusia. Briefly a pro performer and magic dealer. Then a full-time dealer in R.C. Church furniture. Founding editor-publisher of Abracadabra 1946-80 and several magic books. MIMC 1960. 1970 AMA Special Fellowship. 1978 Magic Circle "Magician of the Year" award.

... most of the material in this book consists of effects which were intended to appear in Abracadabra. Government restrictions on the use of paper for new periodicals delayed publication of the weekly, and so I decided to release some of the best material in book form.
Most of the effects which follow are my own originalities, but for the benefit of those readers who dislike my ideas intensely, a number of contributed effects by certain magical celebrities have been inserted at intervals, the idea being that, just as the reader is losing patience, a really good...
Dr. Cannon was probably magic's most unusual character. He lived for many years on the Isle of Man where he ran a healing sanctuary. He had his own fully equipped theatre - The Enchanted Hall. Goodliffe, who was afflicted by a crippling disease, was encouraged by Dr. Cannon to take a free course of treatment.
