Horace Bennett
(Richmond, Virginia: 9th July 1925 - 28th December 1990)
Learned as child from easy tricks bought by parents. Learned the "real" work in 1945-46 by reading Hugard's Modern Magic Manual. Insurance underwriting investigator. Semi-pro close-up worker since 1954. Sometimes aka "Baffling Bennett" since 1964. Invented Paleface Pasteboards (1968), etc.
Wrote 10 books: Prize Winning Magic (1978, 80pp), Bennett's Best (1975, 115pp), On Your Feet (1978, 84pp), Bennett's Fourth Book (1981, 70pp), Downs Palm Technique (1981, 17pp), Alternate Handlings (1983, 96pp), Familiar Themes (1985, 111pp), The Bennett Touch (1986, 136pp), and Magic Afoot (1988, 121pp). Tricks in Hugard's (3), New Phoenix (5), MUM (1), Gen (35), Pallbearers (3), Epilogue (1), Talisman (7), Magic and Spells Quarterly (1), Mantra (1), Epoptica (1), and Linking Ring ("Parade").
