This is called the Marvelous Devil Illusion
because you will marvel at its cleverness. Imagine producing the Devil, surrounded by a committee from the audiences, under test conditions. This is an almost forgotten U. F. Grant idea that has been revised and updated for today's magicians by Devin Knight.
Here is the original Grant ad copy:
Several people from the audience are invited to step up and surround a cloth cabinet. It is quite empty! While they are still watching the cabinet closely, from all sides, a person dressed up in a devil costume appears inside of same. He takes a bow, steps back into the cabinet, and vanishes again. Committee is permitted to thoroughly examine the cabinet. Very mystifying! Wins enthusiastic applause! You can arrange it with ease. A light-weight illusion, ideal for church, club or stage performances. Easy to do, but really mystifying.
Packs flat and will fit in the backseat or trunk of your car. PDF gives resources on where to get all you need online. It is easy to make this banner illusion at a low cost. If you don't wish to produce the devil, you can produce a hooded monk figure carrying a lite candle. This is not just a Halloween illusion, but something you can use year round that will generate a lot of talk from the audience. Looks completely impossible.
