Mental Snapshot by Vincent Gagnieux

Imagine the scene. A candlelit room. Some people are dressed in black. Others are dressed in red. A spectator takes the twelve face cards from the deck and thoroughly shuffles them. You get a quick glimpse at the cards, taking a mental snapshot of the scene. The cards are then turned face down and laid out in a row. The candlelight fades. In the darkness, people begin to stir.

One by one, the spectator exchanges any card freely with an adjacent neighbor, repeating this again and again. Everything has changed.

And yet… somehow, your mental snapshot still tells the whole story. When finally everything goes still, although you saw the cards only once, and only for a few seconds, you can reveal the color of each one of them in its final position.
