(Passaic, New Jersey: 15th October 1900 - 21st October 1987)

Stage name of William M. [or E.] "Bill" Vagell. Inspired at age 13 seeing Thurston show. At age 13 joined carnival. Tutored by Professor Lowry & Harry Rouclere. Debut as pro in 1913. Mainly in vaudeville. Wrote The Elusive Canary: The Last Word on Cages (1936, 33pp, ghosted by Jean Hugard). With USO 1943-45. Retired after WW II. Tricks in Hugard's Magic Monthly.

SAM Hall of Fame 1985. His collection of movies of magicians, which he filmed during his travels was in the Magic Castle Library.
