This book documents Sinclair's test of his second wife, Mary Craig Sinclair, psychic abilities. She had an interest in the occult. She attempted to duplicate 290 pictures that her brother drew. Sinclair claimed Mary successfully duplicated 65, with 155 "partial successes" and 70 failures. However, critics pointed out that the experiments were not sufficiently controlled allowing for example sensory leakage. One such critic, Martin Gardner, wrote:
"As Mental Radio stands, it is a highly unsatisfactory account of conditions surrounding the clairvoyancy tests. Throughout his entire life, Sinclair has been a gullible victim of mediums and psychics."
When Mrs. Sinclair was tested by William McDougall under better precautions the results were less than satisfactory. Surprisingly, Albert Einstein wrote a preface for the book convinced that there was truth to Sinclair's claims.
The "Drawing Duplication" effect is a popular mentalism routine. This book provides some historical background and material for an introductory lecture to such routines.
