Stage- and pen-name of Oscar H. Gutheil. Inspired at age 5 seeing Thurston show. Moved to Columbus, Ohio. Mentor was H. Adrian Smith. Semi-pro stage act as "Oscar Hugo". Wrote (as "Oscar Hugo") Magi Card Systems (1942, 98pp) and edited Magian 1946-47 (3 issues).
