Quartet: four exclusive card effects by Peter Duffie

All the effects use simple fakes or subtleties to accomplish off-beat effects.

INTERNECINE is a novel version of the Tunnel Change and uses a small packet of cards. The cards appear to change places of their own accord. The performer demonstrates this phenomena further by causing two of the cards to change places in a very convincing manner. Finally the transposition is repeated and this time the change takes place visibly.

DICHOTOMY is a very strange prediction effect. A spectator chooses a card and tears it into two pieces. One of the pieces is destroyed and the other retained by the spectator. Upon opening the performer's sealed prediction the spectator discovers that the name of his selected card has been predicted in advance. Not only that but stapled to the corner of the prediction is the other half of the spectator's card.

TARRADIDDLE uses a simple stack to present a very convincing version of the Lie Detector trick. A spectator is asked several questions regarding the identity of his selected card. He can lie as often as his likes but the deck of cards invariably catches him out and provides the correct answers.

ASCENSION starts as a simple Monte effect when the spectator tries to locate the Queen among several spot cards. He fails but the Queen can always reveal her location by rising from the middle of the packet. The cards are then dropped into an open fronted envelope and the spectators see that the Queen is on the face of the packet. Even from this vulnerable position the Queen will rise from among the rest of the cards and out of the envelope.
