The Ruby Stack and Emerald Stack by Bill Hallahan

It contains two stacks, each made with 52 standard playing cards that contain bracelet sequences.

The Ruby Stack

The deck is cut and six cards are dealt out to six people. The people with cards that have a red suit stand up. The performer names all six cards.

The Ruby Stack is a full-deck stack where it's very easy to calculate the suit and value of the first card of six consecutive cards merely by knowing which of the six cards have a suit that is either a Heart or a Diamond. Alternatively, knowing which cards are a Club or a Diamond allows identifying the sixth card. The exact same method that used in each case.

No codes need to be memorized. A relatively simple calculation gives the suit and value of the first card. The stack must be memorized to know the other five cards. However, only the first 26 cards of the stack need to be memorized, because the last 26 cards are the same values with simple suit replacements. An alternative stack is supplied where all 52 cards would have to be memorized.

The Ruby Stack improves on the Cherry Stack from the book Mathematical Stacks by allowing the value of the first card to be known after knowing the suit color of the first five cards. The suit color of the sixth card is needed to know the specific suit of the first card.

The Emerald Stack

The deck is cut and five cards are dealt out to five people. The people with cards that have a red suit stand up. The performer names all the cards. The performer then names all the cards. Like the Ruby stack, no code needs to be memorized. Also, the Emerald Stack is a tetradistic stack, so only the first 13 cards of the stack have to be memorized.

The routine allows acquiring additional information that allows identifying the values and suits of the first card. However, even without this additional information, the performer can name the values of the five cards.

No code needs to be memorized. A relatively simple calculation gives the suit and value of the first card. The stack must be memorized to know the other four cards. However, only the first 13 cards of the stack need to be memorized.
