Wayne Dobson

(Leicester, England: 5th July, 1957 - )

Wayne Dobson is an English magician, who became well-known through various television appearances in the late 1980s and 1990s. At the height of his fame he had his own television series Wayne Dobson - A Kind of Magic. More recently he has become known as a campaigner for multiple sclerosis charities.

In 1977 he won joint first prize in the close-up competition at the I.B.M. British Ring Convention. This led to his television debut on the BBC Television show Blue Peter. Encouraged by this success Dobson decided at the age of 21 to become a full-time professional magician. Dobson had developed a style of magic based around fast-talking patter and one-liner humour.

Wayne Dobson
Wayne Dobson and Friends by Wayne Dobson

Excerpt from the Introduction:

It was Derek Lever who suggested to me that I should write this book. At first I was a little apprehensive about approaching my friends as I didn't want to feel that I was exploiting their status. I really shouldn't have worried as all the people featured in this book were more than happy to oblige - they have all been very generous in contributing some of their best material.
