Anything You Say by Len Belcher

An unusual magical murder game. All the necessary cards are enclosed in the PDF and you can immediately print them and perform the trick.

An unusual and exciting effect for your mental act or magic show. It has much audience participation. Each of three spectators, invited up, plays a part in the enactment of an 'Orrible Murder, one being the body, one the witness and one the murderer. Each "chooses a weapon" - printed on large cards. (But you could use real articles: rope, dagger, gun, poison bottle, hammer). Cards or weapons are hidden. While this is afoot you have your back turned or retire from the room. No one (not even members of the audience) knows the "identity" of the spectators or the weapons held. Even the helpers themselves don't know what their colleagues hold.

But truth will come out. Returning as a Detective, you question the suspects - frivolous questions that can have no bearing, and producing fun for that reason. But suddenly you startle everybody by revealing that you know which spectator holds the weapon. In mounting suspense, you dramatically announce the identities of body and witness, and finally unmask the murderer.

It's great stuff with terrific audience appeal, suspenseful right to the shock finish. You know the appeal of the whodunit theme in books, plays, films, TV. Here you weave your own plot and the denouement will baffle even expert criminologists.

  • No skill
  • No stooges
  • Nothing to learn or remember
It's a wonderful trick that you can perform right away. Built it up with a little drama, and we guarantee the audience reaction for you. You print yourself the necessary cards (templates enclosed in the PDF) and you are ready to perform!

I have to disagree with previous review. I think the method is quite obvious to the audience, and I was highly disappointed by the lack of script or patter lines or any consistent structure. In description an ‘Orrible Murder is used, implying a British theme. Yet that’s it...other then the recommended deerstalker hat, there’s nothing more British mentioned. You’re left to your own when developing the “hilarious” routine. I thought this might have been a fun interactive routine and so I shelled out $10. But it was not worth it.

I love the Murder Mystery premise. It can become a short playlet on stage with much fun and audience participation. And it doesn't get more simple in method than this (without too much pace slowing procedure). However, the method will fly by most audience members with ease due to some great subtleties built into the routining. And the artwork is fun and first class too. I'm going to make this up. Thanks Chris for finding it and preserving it.
