Routine One as seen by the audience: A pocket diary is given to a participant and he is asked to check out the lucky playing card on his birthday. A deck of playing cards which was lying in full view on the table right from the beginning is ribbon spread and only one card is seen with Happy Birthday written on its back. When that card is turned over, it is the participant's lucky birthday card. And when the remaining cards are all turned over, they are all found to be blank cards. The lucky birthday card can be given to the participant as a souvenir. And the deck can be given out for examination.
Routine Two as seen by the audience: A pocket diary is given to a participant and he is asked to check out the lucky playing card on his birthday. The deck is now given to the participant and he is asked to deal the cards one by one face down to the table while counting the cards, until he sees a specific card. The participant counts alound and deals until one card is seen with Happy Birthday written on its back. When that card is turned over, it is the participant's lucky birthday card. And when the remaining cards are all turned over, they are all found to be blank cards. As a final kicker, the number at which the Happy Birthday card is dealt is found to be exactly equal to the birth date number plus the birth month number of the participant. The lucky birthday card can be given to the participant as a souvenir. And the deck can be given out for examination.
