The Gimmick MagiZette: Volume 4, Issue 2 (Oct - Dec 2014)Solyl and I are friends, separated by an ocean and a common disrespectful relationship with the English language. I doubt this would prejudice my opinion of the Gimmicks MagiZette.

This review is applicable to almost every issue of the MagiZette, as the quality, education level, and entertainment levels are of consistently high value, lessened perhaps by my inability to provide a column on a punctual, consistent basis. Blame a nomadic lifestyle, which has only recently settled.

Besides the columns that review magicians and their magic, various magic “tricks” of good quality and fairly simple skill, there are the occasional and clever comic panels and interviews. Where the Gimmick MagiZette truly shines, is with the priceless background and history of one of the birthplaces of our crafty art/artful craft. It would be a great benefit to see these articles bound into a compilation of the origins of effects and styles of the wizard’s craft, which includes some very important, yet little-known biographical stories and interviews of giants of magic. —- All this for only two bucks an issue makes Solyl’s magazine a bargain and a historical treasure! Highly recommended for those winter reading hours!

The Gimmick MagiZette: Volume 3, Issue 6 (Jun - Aug 2014)WOW! What a fantastic issue of TGM. I can't believe how much magic and news you are able to squeeze into 44 pages. You are to be commended. How do you do it? Your tribute to Aldo was very touching. His trick with the ESP cards looks interesting. I also enjoyed reading about Harold Taylor. Ring 43 in Chicago once had him lecture and perform on their annual show. I still have his lecture notes in my file. He was a very funny man who left this world much too soon. It was also nice to see the cartoon and photo of George Johnstone. He and Betty were good friends of ours. I still have an autographed picture that he gave me on my 40th birthday. I can't wait to make up a set of envelopes with the imbedded needle. I have a magnetic ring, but have never found a good use for it until now. I offer you my sincere thanks for sending me TGM and wish you much success for future issues. Please, let me know if I can help in any way. The Gimmick MagiZette: Volume 2, Issue 5 (Apr - Jun 2013)The Gimmick MagiZette is an amazing bargain. Not only is there some great magic to be learned in every issue, it also provides a fascinating peek into the world of magic in India, both currently and historically. It also is quite entertaining, sometimes unintentionally so due to difficulties in translation. (I'm actually hoping the translation doesn't improve - the peculiar word choices are half the fun!) You wont be dissapointed. A great value.
