The Sliding Knot by John Cornelius

Many years ago Harry Anderson taught this effect to John Cornelius. Now John is teaching it to you. Two pieces of ropes are knotted together. Surprisingly the knot can be slid up and down completely fairly. And finally you open the knot and you have again two pieces of rope.

This is a brilliant little bit of handling. Every move looks exactly as it would, and yet the knot slides.

I've used this as a standalone piece for years now and it gets gasps, puzzled looks, applause and a nice laugh.

Not nearly what was expected from the description. I may have given it too much personal credit. Very easy to do and makes a great "quickie" when you need to kill a bit of time after a professor's nightmare.
