The mentalist divines a sentence, a number, and a playing card, each one connected to the next.

EFFECT:

The mentalist invites a spectator to join him and introduces his next experiment:

"Even the smallest event can set off a chain of consequences. That is called the Butterfly Effect. It makes you wonder how much do the events around us influence the decisions we make? And ultimately, how much control do we really have over our own fate?"

First, the spectator cuts a deck of cards as many times as he wishes. He removes any card, remembers it, and places it into his left pocket.

Next, he uses a packet of cards numbered 1 through 8. He silently spells the name of his card, dealing one card per letter, thereby changing the order of the packet. He then makes two piles and takes the top card from each, which he combines to form a two-digit number. He remembers it and places the pair into his right pocket.

Finally, he opens a book to the page corresponding to his number and concentrates on the first complete sentence at the top of the page.

Twice, the mentalist starts writing something down on a pocket notepad, tears off the page, crumples it into a ball, and places it on the table. It looks like he can't get it right.

Only on the third attempt does he seem satisfied. He then turns the notepad toward the spectator, who can now see the exact first few words of the sentence he read in his mind!

But it doesn't end there.

As the spectator removes the number cards from his pocket, the mentalist reaches for one of the previously discarded paper balls and unfolds it, revealing the spectator's page number!

For the final knockout, the mentalist unfolds the other paper ball as the spectator removes the playing card from his pocket. And there, clearly written on the paper, is none other than the name of the spectator's playing card!

Neither luck nor coincidence - the Butterfly Effect in motion.

Easy to do. No sleight. No moves. Regular deck. Regular number cards. Regular book. Instant reset.
