EFFECT:
The performer introduces a 50-card ESP deck (two regular 25-card decks combined) to two spectators. He divides the deck into two piles, explaining that he is going to explore the connection between the three of them.
For this, he asks each spectator to think of a different number between 1 and 20. He deals down to each spectator’s chosen number, one card from each pile at a time, and sets aside the two selected cards for each spectator. The four cards are then arranged in a square formation. The first spectator decides how the cards are paired, and the second spectator chooses one of the two pairs.
Finally, the performer draws attention to an envelope that has been in full view from the beginning and removes the slip of paper inside. It shows two symbols: a circle and a square. The chosen pair is turned over—the symbols are also a circle and a square, a perfect match.
