Mental Infiltration by Raphaël Czaja

The spectator cuts the deck as much as he wants. The magician picks up the deck and deals the cards singly from the top. When the spectator stops him, the magician tables the deck and turns away. The spectator remembers the value of one card and the suit of another card where he stopped at. He gathers the cards - he can even cut the deck - before the magician faces him again. Then, the magician asks the spectator to concentrate and makes two assertions, one about the color and one about the value. The spectator tells him if he is right or wrong both times. Whatever the outcome is, the magician asks the spectator to combine the value and the suit to mentally create a playing card. As the spectator does so, the magician removes a blank card and a pen from his pocket. He looks into the spectator's eyes and writes something on the blank card. When he is done, the spectator takes out his thought-of card from the deck. It is the 9 of Hearts. The magician says: "If I happened to think of the same card, it would be impressive, wouldn't it?" Only now the spectator is allowed to read the words written on the blank card: THE SAME CARD. But it isn't just a joke. Because when the spectator turns over the blank card, the other side is revealed to be a fully printed 9 of Hearts!

The deck is a full 54-card deck (including the two Jokers). No duplicate. No short or thick card. No sleights required. No peek. The spectator could have ended up with a different card. You will need some blank-backed playing cards.
