Propless Chronologue by Unknown Mentalist

There will be no one who is not aware of the Chronologue diary effect by the great Bob Cassidy. This is a propless version of the same effect.

There are 2 pure propless versions of Chronologue which are explained where no diary or datebook and no physical deck or playing cards are in play. The process is quick, direct, and purely propless between the performer and a participant. The whole process takes about 2 minutes approx.

Using an imaginary diary and an imaginary deck, the lucky card of a participant for her birthday is nailed by the performer accurately. There are also 2 almost propless versions of Chronologue which are explained, where no diary or datebook is in play. No deck of cards is used. Just 4 force playing cards need to be carried by the performer in his pocket or wallet.

Using an imaginary diary and an imaginary deck, the single lucky playing card of the participant is physically taken out from the pocket or wallet by the performer.

  1. Only an imaginary diary is used
  2. Only an imaginary deck is used
  3. Participant merely thinks of her birthday. Doesn't write or reveal it.

Bonus Routine. DB Acaan is a bonus routine explained where, from the point of view of the participant, a thought of playing card is taken out from a single envelope or card case in full view right from the beginning, where the thought of position of the card in the deck is found written on the back of the thought of playing card.

No diaries or datebooks or physical decks are involved. No sleights, no stooges, no preshow. No stacks and no memory work. No anagrams, no counting or dealing procedures. No tearing, no secret writing, no one aheads etc. Works in any language.

For other interesting variations in the diary effect genre, you may want to check out Karma Kosmic Kalendar and IGG (Instant Gig Getter).

1. This is not a magic course for beginners. So a basic level of magic intelligence and a minimum level of performance skill are required to be able to perform these effects.

2. Every magician is not a David Copperfield. Every mentalist is not a Derren Brown. Every magic creator is not a Jay Sankey. And every magic reviewer is not a Penn & Teller. Every magic review, good or bad, is more a reflection of the reviewer rather than the reviewed. So even a badly reviewed magic effect can become a masterpiece in the hands of a good performer. Similarly, a 5-star reviewed magic routine can be screwed up by a bad performer.

I have been performing a version of Bob Cassidy's Chronologue with my own set of handwritten diaries for the past several years. So I was intrigued how Chronologue can be made 'Propless' and picked this up - and happy that I did. Using his own birthday, a helper arrives at a playing card - this process is basic and brilliant. Nothing is spoken or written down - everything is done in his head by the helper. And you can reveal the lucky card directly without fishing. I will be using this. Especially as a follow up to my regular Chronologue routine.
