Dictionary definition of 'Straphanger': (noun) a standing train or bus passenger who grips a hanging strap for support. (noun) a passenger who uses public transport.
A participant chooses a travel destination from a list of about 50 different places across the world. It is an absolutely free choice and there is no force. Next the participant settles on a single letter in her chosen destination. Then she uses a World War I secret code to translate her letter into a completely different letter. Finally she thinks of any country in the world, starting with that letter. The participant does all this mentally and silently only in her mind. And yet the performer is able to divine the thought of country.
Several variations and a propless version are included. There is almost no method to this routine except that the core of the underlying principle is just a single line of script and the rest is self-working. And the performer is able to show that the odds are almost impossible - one in 1.56 million.
This is really a high value idea being released as a $4.50 surprise given the present global situation. There is no math, no sleights, no switches, no peeks, no preshow, no stooges or instant stooges, no dual reality, no set up, no multiple outs, no electronics, no apps. This is instantly repeatable with a different outcome. You can perform Straphanger in both virtual as well as live shows. And the propless version can be done even on just a voice call.
