In an escalating sequence, the performer reveals predictions of matching colors, numbers, and ultimately a playing card.
EFFECT:
Twelve cards are removed from a regular deck. Four are used as prediction cards. The spectator cuts the remaining eight, mixes them three times, and divides them into two equal piles.
He places the top card of each pile in front of the first prediction and repeats the procedure, placing each pair in front of the next prediction. The pairs are turned face up. Only two of them match in color—one is a red pair and the other a black pair. (The mismatched pairs, together with their predictions, are discarded.)
The climax now unfolds as follows:
- The prediction behind each matching pair is turned over—it bears the same color as the pair in front of it.
- The values of each matching pair are added together, and each total matches the value of its prediction.
- The values of the two predictions are added together, and their total determines a position in the deck. The card at that position is dealt to and placed beside the card box. The final blow comes as the card box is turned over to reveal the name of that very card written on it.
Effortless. No marked cards. No duplicate. No multiple outs.
