Nothing Fancy by Ken Muller

This is a coin routine as a combination of three powerful effects. One seamlessly segues into the next and builds on what came before. The Volunteer Assistants are involved in a growing blend of their personal magic under the guidance of the performer. It is fully scripted in a tested approach until the performer can create thier own supporting dialogue. It contains several move/sleight combinations that produce a result that several noted magicians have said is impossible - a "vanish to empty in a spectator's hand." Their loss!

Features:

  • a perfect vanish with a customer selected coin. Completely clean with hands never near the body. No gimmick or device employed. Audience involvement.
  • a C/S Transportation between the hands of two VAs with the performer far away. The coin is seen alone on each VA's palm and its color verified. Then the coins switch places. This includes sensible "hand close" training with the VA's being the heroes of the magic.
  • a 'Gadabout' series of transportations with the copper and silver coin. The single remaining coin is seen alone on the performer's palm (no reach in), and the right hand returning from the pocket is shown empty because it is. The final "return of the coin" occurs in the VA's hand with a surprise ending that surpasses everyone's expectations - including the performer. It is the VA's magic that takes control.
  • a gaffed coin set is used (you already own it), with the handling of the coins by spectators masking its presence. No body loads or ditches.

"The definitions of all the moves, methods and their strategies are clearly laid out, as is the presentation of each step that blends the 3 effects well into a very nice, sturdier piece. If studied properly by the reader, they should experience a most complete voyage from learning to presenting a fine show of some good, well thought out coin magic." - Marion Boykin

Requires intermediate coin sleight mastery and extensive in-person audience engagement skills. Needs two silver coins such as a Kennedy Half and matching [, one or more matching copper coin (English Penny) with C/S gaff, plus other easily to find items.
