Does his one-step advice give children's entertainers an edge? I don't know that I would put it that way and it's such a no-brainer that to call it a "secret" seems a bit much. If you're working with children and you don't already know this secret, you're in a bad place. It certainly isn't something I would charge people for. In fact, treating this as a means to increase sales seems incredibly cynical. This is one "secret" I would like every one of my competitors to know, take seriously, and shout from the rooftops.

In this age of tighter school budgets, many schools choose not to budget (or budget less) for school assemblies. The author presents a creative method to finance your assembly program without getting grants, selling ads, or making the school cough up the dough. In a big school, there's the potential of making more than the average school show fee. It could be a back-door method to get a booking when the school says they don't have the budget. Also, there's some room to update the process and use online payment processes to eliminate cash and checks.
I haven't yet committed to following this method, but it seems very viable, and I'm not disappointed that I purchased the ebook.

First of all, it's a good method. The first time I saw something like it, or perhaps it was this same method, I had an inkling of what it may be. It's a very good, albeit cumbersome, idea that will absolutely work.
I removed 2 stars because the ad copy skips over a crucial moment, which could have easily been included in its writing and still retain the secret. I spent hours attempting to recreate the system in my head and came up with almost the exact same thing on a whim. Upon reading the material, I do not feel so bad at my lack of ingenuity. It was everything I expected, and as such, is not wholely unsatisfactory.
This was not a waste of munny. For what you get, it's clear and solid system, but I firmly believe this is not the most superior one, as purported. For what you learn, it's a good start for coding, and builds a foundation for the kind of effort required for such a performance, if you so choose to pursue it. Thank you for this release.

Magicians that enjoy classical methods will recognize the two principles used here. It's an excellent methodology for those of us with limited or no sleight of hand abilities. I bought this along with Nelson's Mind Divination and I think they complement each other well. I feel I now have practical ways to handle private readings and Q&A acts. Assuming you can give passably good readings and answers to questions these methods allow us to concentrate on presentation instead of finger acrobatics. I'm mostly an armchair mentalist/magician but sometimes I do perform. I can see myself using these techniques. Good price and good product.

This is one of those routines that requires a certain boldness and, until you do it a few times, you wonder if it can be pulled off with its wonderful simplicity. This is an excellent routine. It really adds something to a magic show and it eats a lot of time, which can be very helpful for those annoyingly long 2-3 hour gigs we might sometimes find ourselves questioning whether or not to accept. This routine can turn the much beloved and highly profitable skill of simple balloon animal making into a GENUINE MAGIC TRICK, instead of... Well, instead of just being balloon twisting.
If you're a magician thinking about getting into balloons, you can't go wrong with this one.
Be warned however, once you start twisting balloons your show is basically over and you will be twisting balloons for the next 30 minutes or so until all the kids who want one get one.
Trust me, done strategically, this is a GOOD thing!

Virtually everyone on Earth has a mobile device with a calculator app, so you can do this at the drop of a hat. You will need a penny that is cut in half; in the ebook, Devin explains how to make it. This ebook is about a really good effect that is easy to make up and perform. Perform this as a magic trick or as an unusual mental effect. You cannot use the deck for any other tricks, but you could always do a deck switch. It's also not really good for strolling performances because of the reset, but it's ideal for formal close-up and stand-up shows. Recommended.

Devin used to make and sell this very visual effect. But this ebook has very clear directions so you can make your own autobend spoon (or fork) for a few dollars. The effect will take a little practice, but it is not difficult, and Devin includes a lot of information on handling and presentation. Thanks to the phenomenon Uri Geller created, people expect magicians and mentalists to bend spoons, so this should play well in all kinds of venues. Highly recommended.

I bought the physical version of this effect when it was first released. Then I sold it not too long after. What was I thinking? Now I've rectified that by buying this ebook.
This is a great mentalism effect for kids (and adults). If you do advanced balloon sculptures, you can use these balloon menu cards and the instructions as a model for making your own unique set. You can even use this effect if you don't do balloons at all.
The personality reading effect Devin describes is a good use for these menu cards too.

This is one of those rare mentalism effects that is suitable for kids and for adults. Devin used to sell this effect through magic dealers, but in this ebook he explains how to easily make it up yourself. I recommend checking sites such as Temu or AliExpress for the appropriate puzzles, since those should be more cost effective than retail sites such as Amazon. You'll also need a clear force bag, which is available from many magic dealers. There are a lot of jigsaw puzzle effects available right now, and Puzzle Mania is a strong addition to that category.

While these are geared toward magicians, other variety should be able to adapt the presentations and use these too. As far as my rating goes, I have to knock off a star because the ebook mentions jpeg files that are not included. But it isn't difficult to convert the PDF images to jpeg or png files that you can then import into a graphics program. Use these to promote your entertainment services and make yourself memorable!

This bit of business is a natural for kid show performers. Congratulations to Devin for seeing the potential in this. Currently, it appears the honeycomb hats are brightly colored on all sides, so the plunger bit probably won't work. But you can do the alternate setup of a vase with a flower in it. As I write this, you can buy one or two hats, reasonably priced, from some eBay dealers and from AliExpress. Just use the search term Devin mentions and you should be able to find them. Keep the kiddos laughing!

Very interesting compilation of illusions and documents written by U.F. Grant. Dozens of great illusions ideas and principles that can be adapted to fit your own show. This is a historical book, so you have to know in advance that some principles are outdated for today's reality. Also, a few illustrations are missing, mostly in the last section. However, you have to read it to get your own imagination stimulated to create your own stuff, and most of the illusions that don't have illustrations, you can figure out what it's supposed to look like. But still, many of the illusions in this book can be used as is, and they are near perfect as is! Even if you only use one of them in your show, it's gotta easily repay the price of the book. Talking about the price, it seems a little too pricy to me, compared to other books of that age, and of public domain. $20 or $25 would have been more appropriate. But that being said, I don't regret my purchase and I would buy it again knowing what I know now...

The psychology behind this mental feat is ingenuous and explained in great detail like Devin Knight is always doing well. The downsides are :
1. The relative complexity of all the techniques you have to remember and adjust, depending on the different possible situations are not for the beginner. You have to think fast and be alert and concentrated to do that kind of effect. If you are easily distracted and you have difficulties following a logical deduction reasoning, this is not for you.
2. This kind of effect is extremely difficult to practice in advance until you perform it on a real audience.
3. Someone wise could probably catch the method used rather easily. You are not asking questions, but telling people to do this or that depending on their choice may be perceived by many as tips for knowing who's thinking about what.
4. Limited choices to only 5 items, making less impressive than a book test or other, more diversified choice's mentalism number.
But despite those downfalls, it is as close to pure mentalism as you could get for starting a show, if you are experienced. It could be presented as a test to check who's good to transmit thoughts before going deeper into mentalism.
Overall, I highly recommend it to anyone fast minded who wants a pure-looking mentalism effect to start his show or for any performer who wants to improve his concentration in mentalism.

I have a vague memory that Devin's IMPOSSIBLE DEVINATION came in for some criticism because the method, while very clever, didn't seem logical.
In any case, Devin resolved any perceived shortcomings with FOOD FOR THOUGHT. The method makes perfect sense for the restaurant theme and routine. The necessary props cost just pennies; eventually, they will have to be replaced, but you can use them over and over again. The menu card included in the PDF is plain black text, but it's easy to read, which is more important than being "pretty."
It'll take a little practice just to get the hang of it, but I will be adding FOOD FOR THOUGHT to my repertoire. It should be a winner in almost any magic or mental act.

If you've been hesitant to buy one of those gimmicked gumball machines because they cost $500 or more, this ebook may be of great use to you. Just follow Devin's instructions (which are not difficult), and in short order you'll have your own magic gumball machine for about $35 to $40.
The ebook includes instructions for several strong routines, at least one of which would be suitable for kid shows. I'm looking forward to adding this to my shows. Recommended.

I like many of Devin Knight's ideas. This idea for increasing gigs may not be the most stellar, but it is something I had not thought about and should definitely work, in the short run. It is easy to do even for introverted people, and doesn't involve creepy sales pitches. As we become more and more virtual, and move away from life as we knew it, it may not work as well in the future as it did in the past. I have not tried it but may do so. In any case, I doubt many people have thought of this marketing approach, and recommend the ebook at this price point. It may not work in every jurisdiction, however. In most locations, it should work, though.

Pretty cool concept! I'm more experienced as a close up mentalist - an amateur who has frequent experience with impromptu demonstrations and readings - not minding making the big claims, so this is something more my style. I don't think it takes guts, as much as it takes speed.
You NEED to be fast in your answer, and you gotta be very comfortable doing this sort of thing regularly outside of mentalism. I wouldn't say this is for the bold as much as it's for the quick-witted mentalist who can operate without a script, since, that IS what you're doing.
Also, to those being mad about this being reused work, it says so in the description who is credited. I really didn't mind that especially since that's a very uncommon thing in our community. I appreciate the lack of plagiarism and transparency in the ad copy. For those who know about it, you're just getting someone's commentary, and I think that's worth $8. You might not, but we can't deny the main idea is pretty dang cool.

The method solely relies on certain specifics that allow you to know the card chosen, which is quite obvious and no skill or anything required on the performer's part. The only skill required is regarding the presentation techniques, and variations of presentation where you hide the method that allows you to know the card.
It is exactly as described, however, what some of you may not like is that the presentation is situational/specific. You have to figure out ideas of why you need to present the divination that way. "Food for Thought" is an idea for the presentation.
TLDR; It's mostly about presentation around the easy method that allows you to tell the card easily. Only skill required in my own opinion is the presentation.

This is t.v. special material. The cost to make this is too much. You need permission to do it on t.v. but otherwise, it could really boost ratings. The secret was used by Houdini as I have seen in his books. Highly recommended as this could eventually be performed again someday.
