A fooling card trick designed to fool magician friends. A Self-Working effect.
The spectator freely cuts off a packet, remembers the bottom card, and returns it to the middle of the deck. The magician then cuts to the middle of the deck and claims that three cuts will locate the spectator’s selection. After three consecutive cuts, none of the cards is the selection. However, the values of the three cards cut to add up to the exact position of the selection.

Performance transcript:
- Place the deck on the table and have the spectator cut off one-third of the deck.
- Remember the bottom card they cut to.
- Then cut off half of the remaining deck.
- Place the packet from the spectator's first cut into the middle.
- Both cuts are completely free.
- The spectator's selection is somewhere in the middle.
- So I don't know the position of the selection.
- And there is no key card.
- Now I'll try to cut directly to the spectator's card.
- It's difficult. Give me three chances.
- This is where I cut the first time.
- Is the 2 of Spades your card?
- It's not? No problem.
- Give me another chance.
- Is the 4 of Diamonds your selection this time?
- Still not?
- One last chance.
- Is the 8 of Diamonds your selection?
- None of them.
- So I cut three times in a row without finding your card.
- These three cards must contain some kind of clue.
- For example, 2 + 4 = 6, and 6 + 8 = 14.
- Maybe they tell me the final position of your selection.
- It's at position 14.
- Count down 14 cards.
- The 14th card is your selection, the 3 of Diamonds.
