A great little book on the topic of the use of transforming hats to add a little something special to any show. Sad to report, the resource suggested in the book for obtaining these hats is retiring and selling the business. They are currently entertaining a few offers for the business but not producing product in the interim. There are other sources for the product if you internet "dig" just a bit. I am on the mailing list for updates on when the product will once again be available. When I receive the word I will e-mail lybrary.com the newest resource. DO NOT let this stop you from purchasing now. The techniques and patter are worth every penny even without the suggested prop.

Part of the method involved here is sickeningly cruel beyond belief. It involves causing injury and pain to the animal over and over over again. I'm not being dramatic. The book clearly describes it as "injury," and that's exactly what it is. It's just plain sadistic. Although the description states that the book is for educational and informational purposes only, he nonetheless tells you where you can buy a cobra, and the text is littered with phrases starting with "if you are going to..." and suggestions on what to feed your cobra. Yes, your cobra. The one that you didn't purchase and don't have because the book is for educational and informational purposes only. But if you do have a cobra, here's how you can repeatedly torture it.

I just finished reading the manuscript for this effect. Do yourself a favor and add it to the cart. I am a huge Devin Knight fan and have most of his material. As in the usual Devin style the method is simple but diabolical. The instructions are very well written and all aspects of performance are gone over. All I can say is WOW!

I really really really like this release. If you see it as just an effect to perform, it's not that great. But used in conjunction with a routine, this could be a very effective gag/addition. I am trying to come up with a routine to use it with in my kid shows. The bang you get is pretty loud. I think it could easily be heard from the back of a small theater. It doesn't use any chemicals or fire things of any kind. The method is VERY simple., but I am a big believer that simplicity isn't always bad. In this case, I think this method is the perfect solution to this desired effect. I bought a supply of gimmicks that will last for years for only $5 at my local walmart. This is definitely worth getting. Great work, Devin!

After an accident years back, my fingers don't work too good, and my Double Lift paid big time for it. I had to pretend I was squaring the pack, thumb count and lift two cards at the inner end, and secure a pinkie break before attempting a Double Turnover.

This is a fantastic double turnover. It looks natural and with a bit of practice you're going to get it down every time, with very little risk of missing. The teaching video is not even 2 minutes long, but he teaches everything you need. This is probably not so good for absolute beginners but everyone else should have this. Even if you already have a double lift you are comfortable with, this is a great one to know. And it's only $3.00! What a great price. Buy now!

Just finished reading the manuscript - I can't wait to try this out. There is a possibility of a miss, but in the words of Peter Turner "Dare to be BOLD - for that is when miracles happen". You should have a sure fire effect in the wings in case this does not work. Devin and Bob do a great job of explaining the simple principle as well as increasing the odd's of success. Very well laid out as is all of Devins manuscripts.

I'm a huge OOTW fan, but I don't like this. I saw Devin perform this & he flashed several times & didn't fool anyone I was with. Even without flashing, I think the envelopes make this handling of the effect clumsy. There are so many other variations of this that you can do WITHOUT the envelopes that would help this streamline this routine without taking away any of it's power or impact on the audience. Using the envelopes was clever, but "clever" doesn't always mean better. Sometimes when magicians come out with a variation, they get too caught up in the cleverness & miss the fact that the routine isn't being improved... and the overall effect in the eyes of the audience is diminished. Just my 2 cents...

I stumbled across this while looking for a way to spell to any card ....an effect which is referred to by David Britland Cardopolis Blog in a discussion on Deckorama.
While searching I immediately thought the LIE SPELLER trick by Simon Aronson referred to may be on here so I searched and hey presto Devin Knights latest effect pops up at a great price!
Even though it wasn't what I was looking for I read the description again and again ......and knew I had to buy it. Glad I did .....the thinking behind it is very devious and the write up on the PDF is first class.

This is great! Every beginning magician should read this, and experienced magicians may find it a refreshing statement of truths we know but don't always talk about. This book will be of greater value to the magician than mentalist. Devin states that you need a 70-90 minute show that appeals to all ages. I have yet to see even the best mentalism program which meets those requirements. Mentalism is an adult form of entertainment and most children under 12 will just not get it.
And 90 minutes of mentalism is just hard to watch. Then there are the kooks who will boycott a mentalism show rather than support it.
Also this book is more for established performers who have "a lot of great references." So, if you are just starting out and think this book will help you break into the market, look elsewhere, as this is definitely for the more experienced performer. Also you will need some cash to invest in the show before you even step on stage-a few hundred dollars actually.
The book has sound advice and a workable- and most likely profitable-plan, but again, more experienced performers with (some handy cash) will find it of greatest value.

It needs to be pointed out that you need a gimmick deck to perform this which is not pointed out at the offset. In addition, you need additional materials as well. Whilst the method used is acceptable, I do not feel that the deck could be fully examined as it suggests..... Which to all in tense and purposes is the reason I purchased it only to be feeling mislead. It indicates that it differs and is unlike other effects of the same vibe, I totally disagree.
The non gimmicked version, in my opinion is also a cop out.... It is a very condescending method which if I was a spectator, the magician would have no end of problems as it relies on audience management. The title notes advertised for the non gimmicked version, I feel are somewhat misleading. This method would have been better if he had kept it a secret as I feel it is unethical.

I've been wanting to do some metal bending for quite some time. I have the Liquid Metal DVD but never got around to ordering a supply of forks to begin the painful work of learning a bending routine. Then this caught my eye. I'm thinking...$8...how good can it be. So I downloaded. Wow. This is really a visual bend!
I read the reviews and Autobend Silverware and it got good reviews. Apparently, a previous release of the product contained a pre-made spoon gimmick. The PDF download for $8 does NOT have a gimmick. The manuscript provides detailed instructions on how to make your own gimmick. I was able to get some cheap but sturdy spoons to bend from Dollar General and the other "material." Within 30 minutes of leaving the house, I had my first first gimmick made. Within another 30 minutes of practicing I had revised a second gimmick to enhance the illusion of melting. Now am I confident I am ready to perform. It is really that easy.
Unlike some other famous fork routines, the bend really happens in front of the spectator. It can be a slow bend or a fast bend. The bending movement is surreal looking. It is self working. Like all self-working tricks, it still takes a little practice to get a smooth routine and handling figured out. You can hand out the pieces of the spoon after it melts apart. There is a little something that you need to ditch to be completely clean but you should be able to figure that out. By the end of the night, I was bending like a pro. This is one of those routines that you can do in front of the mirror and amaze yourself.
The total cost of the materials to make 6 bending spoons and a lifetime supply of the other material cost me about $8. So for a total of $16 clams I got a killer routine. Unlike Liquid Metal, where you are going to destroy dozens of forks to become proficient, with Autobend Silverware you reuse the gimmicked spoon. You can give out the pieces if you'd like but I don't see the need.
I haven't even read through the manuscript yet. It looks like there are a lot of routine ideas and handling for swapping out the gimmick. Highly recommended.

Not impressed with anything Mr. Knight has offered. His effects are easy to learn but are of poor quality. I think he's more interested in selling his products then creating good magic. Dissolving Aces is no exception. At his lecture, I saw each ace as it fell into the lap. I don't believe these moves are even new! If you do buy this effect and practice it, please have the decency to add a presentation. If Mr. Knight had done this, dissolving aces would have been some what entertaining, instead of a mere display of skill... or lack there of. Not recommended.
