A spectator can chose any 4 double blank cards from a deck, or you can hand out 4 cards for inspection. Any one card is signed and placed aside. The remaining 3 cards all change to the spectator's signed card and can be clearly shown one at a time. In the end, they all become blank again and the spectator keeps his original signed card as a souvenir.

You show five cards completely blank on both sides. A card is selected from a regular deck (say the QH). The same card appears on the face of every blank card. Then all the cards are blank again including the spectator’s selection; this card now re-appears face up in the middle of the deck!

The performer fans a deck of cards which are all blank. Spectator merely thinks of a card. Performer removes the thought of card, which is naturally again a blank card. Magically the blank card turns into the thought of card and as a climax the whole blank deck turns into a regular deck.

A stunning color change of blank cards into printed cards.

You show four cards which are blank on both sides. Suddenly an ace of spades appears. When you spread the four cards all formerly blank cards are now aces. Turning over the fan shows four different backs. The blank cards have changed to non-blank front and back.

In the book Inspirations (published by Martin Breese in 1987) I included an effect called 'Envelope Prediction'. This is a different version which I performed as part of my close-up act at the Blackpool convention in 1979. There is no palming or copping of cards, in fact you could call this near-self-working!

You start by showing one joker and several blank cards, which are blank on both sides. Adding the joker to the blank cards makes them all become jokers on their faces. Then you do the same with the backs and end up with a pack of jokers. The blank cards have changed to jokers.

Three cards are put face down on the table. Put three blank cards over the first card and the blank cards all change into the same card they were put on. Repeat this with the other two cards. The cards always magically change their faces. At the end, the faces change again and the entire deck is blank.

A matrix effect with playing cards.

You place the Ace, Two, Three and Four of Clubs on the table in a square formation as is typically done with matrix-type effects. You cover two cards with two jumbo cards. One by one all the cards assemble under one jumbo card.

You try to repeat the 'assembly' without the jumbo cards but the regular cards do not move. You turn over three cards and they are seen to be all blank. The other card is the 10 of Clubs, the sum of all the cards!
