"I do a lot of Q&A act in my shows and I have different ways to get people info. This for sure is another tool I will have at my disposal when I can. Thanks Devin for releasing this." - Luca Volpe
"This is a shocking book. I will never use it, but every mentalist should own it to know what is going on. It is a valuable reference, but do not use it. Like a modern-day nightmare alley, it exposes the dark underbelly of the art. It should be in your library, but much feels immoral, and you must be hip to it. Treasure it, like a radioactive isotope, but keep your distance." - Marc Salem
Finally,... ★★★★★ $5 The Art of Modern Conjuringunknown Today we have the Masked Magician exposing magic secrets. Eighty years ago it probably was done by writing a book without the author's name given. I do not know if this book falls in the category 'exposure'. It certainly is a book that clearly reveals a lot of interesting tricks. One is the bullet catch. It has nearly 200 excellent photographs. Card and coin manipulation is dealt with in great detail. Overall a very good book. The photographs are the outstanding part.
A review in the March 1909 Sphinx states:
"The Art of Modern Conjuring" is an anonymously written work on "Drawing Room... ★★★★★ $9 Showmanship for MagiciansDariel Fitzkee Dariel Fitzkee authored one of the best trilogies on magic theory. This volume, book one in the trilogy, primarily deals with theoretical aspects of a magic performance. This book has been cited numerous times and is one of the standard works every serious magician should read. Fitzkee has a very analytical mind and describes his thoughts clearly. As with any theory not everyone will agree with every detail and every suggestion. Regardless of if you fully subscribe to Fitzkee's thinking or not, there is plenty to learn from his writings.

"Just finished reading Roger Crosthwaite's new book, Arcardia. It's the kind of book cardmen love to read - lots of details, the kind of details that take a good trick and make it into a great one. I thought Roger's Upjog Switch to be an extremely strong utility item that will have many applications. This one move alone would be worth the price of this book." - Allan Ackerman

★★★★★ $15 Cyclopedia of MagicHenry Hay ... and exceedingly poor grouping, as may be verified by reference to pages 15, 128, 129, 138, 139, 140, and others. The drawings taken from Hoffmann's Later Magic are excellent, of course, but those salvaged from his earlier works (Modern Magic, 1876; More Magic, 1890), good as they were in their day, show definite signs of antiquity. When jumbled together with the weird pictures that illustrated Howard Thurston's Card Tricks and Downs' Modern Coin Manipulation, the total effect is little short of awful. You will find much more here than methods for doing tricks. To transform a card trick into magic, it is necessary to think about logistics, theatrical staging and communication. How can one construct a piece of card magic to assure it is interesting and fascinating to an audience? How can one interact with the audience instead of just talking "at" them? These concepts have nothing to do with methods, but they can turn a mathematical trick into a rare experience of impressive and... ★★★★★ $15 John Ramsay's Routine with Cups and BallsVictor Farelli ... of Johnnie Ramsay.
