Available again after being off the market for over 50 years! One of the great effects in magic has been a production of a bowl of fire; but, most of the methods were not sure-fire and were too mechanical or worked with acid and other dangerous methods. Plus the fact that they were always small flat bowls that had to be carried under the magician's coat, etc.

Here is a sure fire non-mechanical or chemical method where the performer does not have to carry a body load and produces a large massive bowl of fire from beneath an unprepared foulard with no secret pockets.

These are some of the most ingenious methods for card tricks you will find. Many are magician foolers. All are very easy to do but pack a wallop. Most of them require no sleight of any kind!

You get 50 tricks in all. Some of these items can be used as show platform tricks such where a glass of ink changes to glass of clear water with a selected card inside using no chemicals. Another effect is that three people just name cards at random....

At last, here is a new illusion effect and one that any performer may own. Yet, here is an illusion which will compete with the best of them and it will not cost you several hundred dollars to own it or even a tenth of that. In my opinion this is more effective than the Interlude Illusion at a fraction of the cost.

Although this illusion can be done year-round, this makes a great illusion for spook shows or Halloween shows. For those affairs, it is the perfect illusion and it would be hard to find an illusion more suited for those occasions.

EFFECT: The magician shows a three-fold screen with a black interior. He forms the screen into a three-sided cabinet with opening at the front. The performer says that he is going spook hunting. As the saying goes, it takes a thief to catch a thief.

A full size sheet of newspaper is handed for examination; both the magician and a spectator sign their names on the front of the newspaper. Without adding anything, the newspaper is openly and deliberately torn-up with the audience plainly seeing the signatures being torn.

After the newspaper is torn into small pieces, the magician blows on the pieces. The rough edges of the paper are seen to get smooth, and upon opening the newspaper out, it is restored. But wait, only half the paper is there. The other half falls to the floor.

Here's a terrific, family-friendly, comedy bill in lemon effect that your audiences will love. A genuine dollar bill is borrowed from a spectator (no stooge) and signed or marked. Anyone wraps it in a borrowed handkerchief. Two lemons are then shown and one is selected (no force). The spectator himself places the lemon in his coat pocket. The borrowed bill vanishes from the hanky while the spectator is holding it. The man with the lemon cuts it open and finds the bill inside. You do not touch the lemon.

This U. F. Grant publication was revised, enlarged and illustrated by Gene Gloye. This is the kind of material - assorted comedy bits and pieces, that you can add to any group of tricks to build up your show, add laughs, fill in for time.

The title "Secrets - Malini, Leipzig, Vernon, Jarrow, ..." suggests a lot, but these are merely the interpretations and versions of U. F. Grant to some of the classics of Malini, Leipzig, Vernon, Jarrow and others. Grant uses only one page to describe each effect and method. This book is therefore to some degree a disappointment. Nevertheless I think it is a cheap way to learn the plots and a method to several of the greatest tricks of all time. Just don't expect very detailed descriptions. Grant displays in this book an arrogant writing style with comments like 'This is good' or "The best method" or "Fools...
