Completely impromptu, locating two freely thought-of cards.
The spectator freely shuffles the deck and cuts it into two packets. Two spectators each think of a card, then freely cut their packets before the two packets are combined.
The spectators freely cut the cards, think of two selections, and mix up the deck. There is no stack. Even so, the magician can accurately determine the exact position of both selections in the deck.

Performance excerpt:
- Next is a completely impromptu routine.
- First, have the spectator shuffle the deck freely.
- There is no stack.
- Place the deck on the table.
- Have the spectator cut off a packet into my hand.
- This trick requires two spectators.
- Let's say this is Spectator 1.
- I'll show Spectator 1 the cards.
- As I show the cards, they freely think of any card they see.
- A little faster.
- Ask the spectator if they've remembered a card.
- Let's say they have.
- Hand them the packet and have them remove the card they remembered.
- Let's say this is the card they thought of.
- This selection procedure ensures there's absolutely no force.
- Because it's a card they freely thought of.
- Return the selection to the packet.
- But I want the spectator to place it at a completely random position.
- So first, have them cut off a small packet.
- Place their selection on top.
- Then cut the cards again.
- They can cut freely.
- Do the same with Spectator 2.
- Have them remember a card.
- To make it more direct, spread the cards and have them freely think of one.
- Again, have the spectator remove the card they remembered.
- Let's say this is their selection.
- Then have them cut off a small packet.
- Place their selection on top of the packet.
- Then cut the cards freely.
- Both spectators have now cut their packets freely.
- These are the packets they cut.
- Place this packet underneath.
- And place this packet underneath as well.
- Combine the two spectators' packets into one deck.
- I don't know either spectator's selection.
- They freely selected their cards and cut their packets.
- Their selections are at random positions.
- There is no stack in this trick.
- Now have the spectator name their selection.
- Then I riffle through the deck from top to bottom.
- In that instant, I can roughly determine that their card is at position 37.
- Remember, the key point is that there's no stack.
- Let's count down to the 37th card.
- And there it is, the spectator's selection, the 3 of Hearts.
- Next is Spectator 2's card.
- Again, have Spectator 2 name their selection.
- Then I quickly riffle through the deck like this.
- In an instant, I've spotted their selection at position 25.
- This time, the spectator can deal the cards.
- Have them deal 25 cards themselves.
- The 25th card.
- It's the spectator's selection, the Jack of Clubs.
