Ravi's signature effect. A chosen card's corner is ripped off. The magician takes out a lighter and goes to burn the torn corner piece. The magician opens his hand to show that the corner piece has vanished. The spectator is given the lighter to examine only to find that the corner of their selected card is inside the sealed lighter. It is signed and given out as a souvenir.

Everything you need to know: vanishes, appearances, changes, multiplying, producing, explanation of various props to glamorize your cigarette work, etc. Carefully explained with pictures so that even the beginner can easily understand and do these tricks. A great little handbook of cigarette work, with tricks you will use.

You take out a lighter to light up a cigarette or candle. But the lighter doesn't work. You try several times but it simply does not burn. In an instant you change the lighter to a box of matches, take out a match and light your cigarette or candle.
Using this effect Tommy Wonder also teaches the pros and cons of approaching potential spectators with the question: "Do you want to see some magic?" Of course, he offers a much better alternative.

The Torn and Restored Cigarette Paper is a classic sleight-of-hand close-up effect. Skinner's main contribution here is the performance which is humorous and fits his personality. The technique is Nate Leipzig's technique which can also be found in Stars of Magic or Dai Vernon's Tribute to Nate Leipzig.

For the first effect you will need a cigar. Take off the cellophane cover and have a spectator twist it into a little string. Then have them pull off the cigar band and put it on the cellophane string. Both ends are held by the spectator. Under the cover of a handkerchief you free the band without destroying it.
The second effect is a neat stunt. While you attempt to light your cigarette with a match the lit match takes off and flies away - like a rocket.

"...at last, the originator explains his classic micro-levitation in complete detail — a digital first..."
Invented in 1986, and marketed as Cosmosis by Ben Harris, this effect has become one of the most pirated close-up creations in magic's recent history. It truly has become a "classic." Even today, twenty-three years after its debut, unscrupulous individuals and manufacturers in many countries market it without any due respect for its heritage or compensation for its creator. From street stalls in India and across Asia, to the high streets of London and Paris, you'll find this effect...

Cigarettes are banned from most public places. The opportunities to perform this type of magic are limited. Nevertheless the magic is great. In this ebook you will find routines by Mark Weston, Bengt Nilsson, and Luis Gavilondo.
This was part of the famous Ganson Teach-In series originally published by Supreme Magic Inc. Rights are now owned by Martin Breese whom we thank for the kind permission to reproduce this booklet.

In Dennis' own words:
My manuscript on Slydini's Cigarette Magic teaches all of his major cigarette routines including his Cigarette Fantasy; a production of un-lit cigarettes performed to music. With the exception of his 'Torn & Restored Lit Cigarette', all of the routines employ un-lit filter-less cigarettes. (Either Lucky Strikes or Camels are recommended.)
A study of Slydini's Cigarette Magic will introduce the student to Slydini timing patterns, the concept of performing a necessary mechanic when the mind of the observer is mentally at rest, and Slydini's System of Movement (The...

Dennis writes:
Cigar Magic is the result of my investigation into the Cigar From The Purse Routine generally associated with Nate Leipzig (but originally created by G.W. Hunter). I explored different methods including the use of a 'holdout'; which is described in the text. (I finally settled on a routine that does not employ a hold out.) My routine offers a different take on the switch out of the gimmick purse, a new handling of the change over move, producing a second cigar from the purse, and the continuous cigar production that concludes with a production of a bigger cigar. Being a cigar smoker myself;...

Imagine this: You borrow a quarter from a spectator and have it initialed with a Sharpie marker. You take a pack of cigarettes and place the quarter on top of the pack. You have the spectator cover the quarter with a hand and say you’ll cause the coin to pass completely through the pack. You make a magical pass and have the spectator lift her hand. Only...the quarter’s still there. You ask the spectator to pick up the quarter. She tries but her fingers slide right over the coin. Impossibly the coin is under the cellophane! You clearly show the pack is unopened and unmarked in any way. You...

Cards will burn...
Burn explores ideas of the performer physically affecting playing cards in many different ways through the medium of heat/fire/voodoo...for example, the magician causes an image of a spectators chosen card to appear burnt onto another playing card at his will and command...
The ebook is packed with 22 different concepts that will guide you through the methods for creating your own unique tools and gaffs and teach you step-by-step the techniques and mechanics for achieving the impossible voodooesque card magic that has become Burn.

A collection of impromptu tricks and stunts involving matches. To save space and to avoid trivial details, the descriptions have been made as brief as possible and all finer points of presentation and patter have been left to the ingenuity of the reader.
The main categories are wooden matches, paper matches, tricks & jokes & catches, and puzzles.

Take out an originally sealed packet of cigarettes, open it and offer a cigarette to a spectator. The spectator can mark this cigarette in any way, perhaps with a small tear or a small dot with a pen. Then the spectator dumps his marked cigarette as well as all the other cigarettes from the packet into a hat or box or some other container and mixes the cigarettes thoroughly. As the hat is held above your eye level you take out one by one 19 cigarettes. None is the marked one, which is left inside the hat. No gimmicks. You end completely clean. A true Annemann miracle.

A Hilarious cigarette routine for smokers or nonsmokers. No matter what the magician does he can't get the right end of the cigarette in his mouth. Even when he tears the filter off, it magically appears back on the wrong end of the cigarette. Visually stunning and always gets laughs. Watch a demo video below.
Effect
The magician decides to take a cigarette break. Just as he's about to light the cigarette he realizes that the cigarette is in his mouth backwards. So he does the obvious and flips the cigarette end for end and puts it back into his mouth. To his surprise the filter is still...

This is a classic book, probably one of the best books on close-up magic ever written. Now available as an ebook with an improved layout. The original book had 448 photos grouped together in full-page photo plates. This meant that most photos were removed from the text which goes along with the photos. We have corrected this error in this digital edition. All photos have been inserted in the text where they are referred to.
Slydini was a genius of misdirection. Every movement and every word is deliberately chosen to direct the attention of spectators as well as to produce a graceful and engaging...
