ACQUIESCENCE: Two spectators each lay out pairs of cards from freely shuffled packets. Despite any constraints you have accurately predicted the outcome. Miraskillesque perhaps?

THE FLEEING ACES: The four Aces travel from one half of the deck to the other and capture a previously selected card.

FOUR TO THE FORE: A spelling effect based on an Henry Christ premise. Two single Bottom Deals are required but they happen on the off-beat and a fine technique is not necessary.

Twenty-one card tricks from the inventive Scotsman.

BACKLOG: You spread the deck with the faces upwards and invite a spectator to select any card - free choice. This is left face up on the table. You give him the deck and he now spells the name of his card - first the suit, then the value. This produces two random cards. The values of these cards are added - they might be a 3 and a 10 = 13. When the spectator turns his card over it has the number 13 boldly written on the back!

THE DETECTIVE: A spectator selects a card from a packet. Using the name of the famous fictitious...

Perform a second dealt into the hand rather than onto the table. This is particularly useful to have a card appear at a certain position in the deck. (Also part of Move Mastery 1.)

Automatic Aces
You shuffle a deck and then give it a spectator, who now carries out a series of random actions that result in him locating all four Aces.

Rideckulous
Your invisible helpers become visible and then find a chosen card along with all the other cards of the same colour!

Natterjacks
You remove the four Jacks. A Card is selected and returned to the deck. The deck is cut into two halves - one remains on the table. The four Jacks are placed face up on the table half and cut into the middle. One by one the Jacks leave the tabled half and appear face up in the half in your hands....

Collecstasy: Three Kings magically collect two selections......now where have I seen that plot before?

Marraid: You cut the deck four times - each time a face up King appears. You now find a random card for each King by using their suits. When these cards are turned over they prove to be the four Queens - each paired perfectly with the correct King.

Cupidea: You remove the Jack, Queen and King of Hearts and lay them in a row on the table. You place two cards on the King and Queen. A spectator selects two for the Jack....

A handling variation for Jerry Sadowitz’s Ipcress.

Fragmented Thoughts:
You place a sealed envelope on the table or give it to someone for safe-keeping. This envelope contains your prediction. You now bring out four pieces of playing cards: one full-size card, one three-quarter card, one half card and one quarter card. These are placed in a row on the table and mixed. A spectator now picks one of the four pieces. Let’s say he chooses the three-quarter card. The envelope is opened, and the missing quarter is tipped out. Everything can...

A Multi-phase routine where Aces magically reverse, then change to Kings then back to Aces, then the Aces assemble and...

Bringing out your deck, you offer to show the audience a wonderful Ace trick, and so you remove the four Aces and hold them face down. One by one the Aces magically turn face up. Then you say, "If you think that's a good trick - I know an even better one with the four Kings." At that, the Aces in your hand change into the four Kings.

A spectator now cuts the deck into four piles, and you deal a King onto each pile. Just as you deal the last King, you have second thoughts...

This is a follow-up to Obscurities & other Hidden Mysteries, which was a collection of tricks that Peter had published in various magazines and in books published by others over the years.

Peter was unsure how a book of previously published material would be received, despite the fact that most, if not all of the material is hard to come by. The reception to Obscurities both surprised and delighted him, and has encouraged him to release this - a second book of obscure & hidden mysteries.
