You show the old gag where with two folding actions a dollar bill is turned on its head. You now have the spectator sign the bill and repeat the folding actions. However, now only the front of the bill is upside down, the back is not upside down. In other words, only one side of the bill turned. How is that possible? You give the dollar bill as souvenir to the spectator who can keep this impossible bill for the rest of his life in his wallet.

Remember that this is not some fake misprinted bill. Ralf will teach you how to prepare a real genuine dollar bill for this effect. This also works...

Years ago Robert E. Neale came up with his method on how the make an impossible gift out of a borrowed banknote using three strips and a few folds. Now it's time to bring this idea to the next level by using four strips! This makes the braided bill look even more impossible then before!

1. You could use almost any borrowed banknote or paper. (It does not work with Euros.)
2. Totaly impromptu.
3. No glue or hidden cuts. Make this impossible object right under the nose of the audience. Even if they look very close, they can't rebuild it.

A complete mental act with an impossible object!

You present a bottle with a full deck of cards inside. (You can hand out the bottle for examination). The spectator selects one of five playing cards (no force!). With the heritage from your grandpa you are able to reveal any selected card.

You can perform this on stage and even close up. Build the routine up to 4-5 minutes.

Ralf Rudolph is a master of the impossible object. He describes his method of how to make such an object. Once you know how it is done you can make as many presents as you wish. No special tools are necessary. No chemicals are used. With a bit of preparation and the know how you can make something cool.

[Note that the specific German brand of glass Ralf recommends has changed its dimensions and thus it can't be used anymore. The method itself is still valid, but you will have to experiment and search yourself for a suitable glass. Or use the improved method referenced above, which does not depend as much on the glass dimensions as this method does.]

A selected playing card rises out of a packet that is inside a bottle. The rising takes about 8 seconds. The rising card can be handed out as a souvenir. The bottle can be inspected before the rising takes place.

A corner of a playing card is torn off. The magician pretends to grab the card at the missing corner. Despite the fact that he is not touching the card he can still lift and turn the card while holding on to this missing corner.

The effect goes back to Lubor Fiedler. However, Lubor's method is completely different and had the disadvantage that you couldn't show the back of the card. With Ralf's solution you can show both front and back while you are holding the card at the missing corner.

This is similar to Framing the Queen except you do it with a one dollar bill.

A dollar bill is shown from both sides. Performer tears out two small rectangles from the inside of the bill. One of these rectangular tear-outs has its center removed to create a little frame, which is freely shown. Magician folds this little frame over the center beam of the larger bill frame and eventually the little frame clearly hangs from the center beam of the larger frame. How did it get on there?

Note that it is not easy to prepare the gimmick. It is much easier to do this with a playing card. With a bill it will require...
