Se Sfida impossibile al Poker Neo-Zelandese, il nuovo effetto di Biagio Fasano, fosse una magia da palcoscenico sarebbe certamente una grande illusione, paragonabile al baule della metamorfosi o ad una bella cassa per sezionare in più parti l’essere vivente al suo interno. La sfida consiste in un’inedita versione di poker, dalle regole un po' strampalate, ma comunque divertente e semplice da seguire: si presenta come una classica routine con il mazzo di carte da distribuire e tagliare in vari mazzetti, ma sul finale cambia direzione e culmina nell’impossibile. La sorpresa della sconfitta da parte dello spettatore, in una sfida che aveva tutte le caratteristiche per una facile vittoria, si produce quando le aspettative sono tradite dalla comparsa di un incredibile poker d’assi finale. L’illusionista vincerà la sfida se, alla fine delle varie fasi di gioco (che potranno essere tre o quattro), aprendo il nastro di carte, tutti e quattro gli assi risulteranno voltati a faccia in su, mentre tutte le altre carte saranno voltate di dorso. Se anche una sola di queste condizioni non si dovesse verificare, lo spettatore sarà decretato il vincitore.
Lo spettatore inizia la sfida con il grande vantaggio di giocare con il doppio delle carte coperte, rispetto all’illusionista che gioca a carte scoperte, e i quattro assi di dorso (le condizioni essenziali per la sua vittoria); per tutta la durata dell’effetto le carte saranno continuamente distribuite in vari mazzetti, poi ricomposti dopo essere stati eventualmente voltati dalla parte opposta, secondo la volontà dello spettatore. Un’attenzione particolare al movimento dei quattro assi da un mazzetto all’altro, da un verso all’altro, in ogni momento delle varie fasi di gioco, restituisce il senso di genuina casualità ottenuto dalle scelte assolutamente libere dello spettatore.
La cosa davvero incredibile di questo effetto di Biagio, che è ispirato ed è figlio del suo precedente Virtual Revelation Triumph, è la grande, totale libertà di azione dello spettatore sui mazzetti e, in particolare sulla distribuzione delle carte nella seconda fase, senza alcun ordine prestabilito. Allo stesso modo la terza fase (facoltativa perché allunga i tempi di esecuzione) simula l’utilizzo di alcuni dadi, che sono emblemi stessi di casualità. Ho avuto modo di testarlo prima della pubblicazione e devo dire che la prima volta non ho creduto ai miei occhi, ero sicuro non potesse riuscire, e invece i quattro assi si sono presentati puntuali tra tutte le altre carte di dorso. È assolutamente incomprensibile ad un primo impatto la meccanica di questo effetto che sfrutta il principio CATO (Cut And Turn Over) di Bob Hummer in una forma evoluta. Anche le versione contactless, offerta come alternativa all’effetto principale, da eseguire al telefono è qualcosa di incredibile (provato personalmente con Biagio) che accade direttamente tra le mani dello spettatore.
Oltre alla caratteristica di essere un effetto incredibile, incomprensibile, di grande impatto è totalmente automatico e impromptu, consente l’assoluta libertà di scelta allo spettatore, senza calcoli matematici, senza alcuno sforzo di memoria, senza tecniche particolari, anzi nessuna tecnica cartomagica. Solo un mazzo di carte, anche non completo, può essere personalizzato a proprio gusto personale.
Questa volta Biagio ha superato sé stesso, sarà difficile pensare a qualcosa di migliore di questa Sfida impossibile al Poker Neo-Zelandese, in termini di qualità dell’effetto magico, semplicità di esecuzione e totale libertà di azione.

If Impossible Challenge to New Zealand Poker, Biagio Fasano's new effect, were a stage magic, it would certainly be a great illusion, comparable to Metamorphosis or a beautiful crate to dissect into several parts the living being inside. The challenge consists of a novel version of poker, with somewhat wacky rules, but still fun and easy to follow it looks like a classic routine with the deck of cards to be dealt and cut into various bundles, but at the end, it changes direction and culminates in the impossible. The surprise of defeat on the part of the spectator, in a challenge that had all the hallmarks of an easy victory, is produced when expectations are betrayed by the appearance of an incredible final poker of aces. The illusionist will win the challenge if, at the end of the various stages of the game (which may be three or four), on ribbon spreading the cards, all four aces appear to be turned face up, while all other cards are turned face down. If even one of these conditions does not occur, the spectator will be declared the winner.
The spectator begins the challenge with the great advantage of playing with double the number of covered cards, compared to the illusionist who plays with uncovered cards, and the four back aces (the essential conditions for his or her victory). Throughout the duration of the effect, the cards will be continuously dealt in various piles, then reassembled after eventually being turned to the opposite side, according to the spectator's will. Special attention to the movement of the four aces from one pack to another, from one direction to the other, at each moment of the various stages of the game, restores the sense of genuine randomness obtained from the spectator's free choices.
The truly amazing thing about this effect of Biagio, which is inspired by and is the child of his previous Virtual Revelation Triumph, is the great, total freedom of action of the spectator on the packets and, on the distribution of cards in the second phase, without any predetermined order. Similarly, the third phase (optional because it lengthens execution time) simulates the use of some dice, which are emblems themselves of randomness. I had a chance to test it before publication and I must say that the first time I did not believe my eyes, I was sure it could not succeed, and instead the four aces showed up on time among all the other back cards. It is absolutely incomprehensible at first glance the mechanics of this effect that exploits Bob Hummer's CATO (Cut And Turn Over) principle in an evolved form. Even the contactless versions offered as an alternative to the main effect, to be performed over the phone is something incredible (personally experienced with Biagio) that happens directly in the hands of the viewer.
In addition to the characteristic of being an incredible, incomprehensible, high-impact effect, it is totally automatic and impromptu, allowing absolute freedom of choice to the spectator, with no mathematical calculations, no memory effort, no special techniques, indeed no card magic techniques. Only a deck of cards, even an incomplete one, can be customized to one's personal taste.
This time Biagio has surpassed himself; it will be hard to think of anything better than this Impossible Challenge to New Zealand Poker, in terms of the quality of the magical effect, simplicity of execution and total freedom of action.

Another very clever effect from Biagio! This “Any Card At Any Number” pays Homage to the great Ramón Riobóo with a little bit of Barrie Richardson, Diego Allegri and last but not least Woody Aragon. With its semi-automatic method you will even fool yourself. It does involve an ingenious one time setup which is hidden when counting down to the chosen card, making it possible to show some of the cards face up. There’s no slight of hand involved which is good for me, depending on the number created from a clever idea by Ramón Riobóo, it may involve one move which will flow by the Spectators while observing the array of mixed face up cards dealt to the table. The beauty of this routine is that the onlooker can name any value card with a freely created number to count down to. If you’re an A.C.A.A.N. lover like me, you will need to add this one to your collection. I have purchased a few effects from Biagio Fasano and I’m very impressed with his ingenious methods. He gave me a review copy of this effect which I think is going to be a winner. Treat yourself to this great fooler and impress your friends and family, Great for close up, parlour and stage.

Si tratta di un ingegnoso setup una tantum che viene nascosto durante il conteggio alla ricerca della carta prescelta, consentendo di mostrare alcune carte a faccia in su. Non é richiesta nessuna manipolazione o tecnica, il che è un bene per me, perché a seconda del numero, creato per mezzo di un'idea intelligente di Ramón Riobóo, può comportare solo una semplice mossa che verrà eseguita mentre gli spettatori osservano la serie di carte mescolate e scoperte distribuite sul tavolo. Wow! this is an absolute winner for those of you who like self-working impromptu card effects with a borrowed shuffled deck. All of these four card effects are complete workers which will leave your audience completely baffled and stunned at the out come. My favourite is "Say My Name" which I would add to my repertoire but you could easily entertain your audience with a magic show using all four of these effects. Biagio is a very clever thinker and all his routines are very well thought out and if you don't understand anything in the pdf just shoot him an email and he will gladly help as he did with me. Don't delay downloading this gem now you won't be disappointed.

The instruction booklet is for me, in a word, terrible. The translation is often quite poor, and the continuity and explanation of even the basic system and then what the "example" is supposed to be showing are misleading, confusing, and left me wondering how anyone without some basic knowledge of the binary system could ever follow this. Although I would never claim to be able to do anything that the authors may be able to accomplish on their lunch breaks, the binary system is not difficult even for me to grasp. However, their explanation and use of it boggles the mind of someone who does have a Ph.D. in psychology, who has read and performed Magic for 40 years, and who owns 7000 books on Magic. Maybe it was the time of the year - month - week - day, but several readings of that first chapter (which I did not think I would need to do) still left me quite confused and wondering if parts had been left out. I suspect there were no readings and "screenings" by people who did not have an extensive history with several - perhaps all - of the topics the authors are trying (so it is assumed . . . ?) to teach. Certainly, there was no "native speaker" that did go over the translation, and following the hodgepodge of partial effect and methods and expectations left me quite unamused. I did get volumes 1 and 2, but the adoption of 3 is in serious jeopardy. I will take yet another (my fifth) stab at trying to understand the words on the page, and I do NOT expect any sort of "push button" easy-peasy Magic, but I do expect clear and direct communication. This is - definitely not astrophysics, but the authors could definitely take some lessons from Dr. Neil deGrasse Tyson in communicating . . . anything.

… Sono importanti i lavori come questo di Biagio Fasano perché oltre a presentare effetti particolari si dedica molta cura agli effetti scenici e di sorpresa che possono avere sul pubblico soprattutto se tutto ciò che c’è di magico nell’esibizione avviene in mano loro.
In un’esibizione, più lo spettatore potrà essere partecipe e “protagonista” e maggiormente la sorpresa finale e il divertimento saranno memorabili per lui. Fasano presenta 3 nuovi effetti A.C.A.A.N. (Any Card at Any Number – carta al numero) originali che non richiedono alcuna manipolazione. Attenzione: questo non vuol dire che siano effetti semplici con cui affrontare il pubblico, ma che la loro ideazione è talmente geniale ed efficace che il tutto è basato sull’effetto e non su acrobazie di mano.
Si parte con la descrizione di un mazzo preordinato (VR STack PRO – il nome vi sarà chiaro durante l’esplicazione di come realizzarlo) …
In “A.C.A.A.N. Palindromo” … abbiamo una finezza perché per lo spettatore subito si instaura la [apparente] casualità del tutto… Su questo effetto notevole si va ad aggiungere un successivo step che va a creare il famoso “colpo di scena” (e da questi particolari si comprende come Fasano abbia accuratamente studiato ogni dettaglio che possa far presa sul nostro pubblico) ….
A.C.A.A.N. Creativo: … anche questo effetto è ideato proprio per far sì che il volontario ed il pubblico vedano che il prestigiatore non va a manipolare il mazzo di carte, per cui il tutto rende il fatto ancora più strabiliante e stupefacente …
V.R. A.C.A.A.N: … se si sospetta una manipolazione da parte del performer, il volontario sa che poi sarà lui a decidere invece l’ordine delle carte… Decisi dunque dal destino un NUMERO ed una CARTA, lo spettatore… giunto alla carta nella posizione corrispondente a quel Numero, incredibilmente volterà proprio la CARTA scelta!
Già solo dalla descrizione si può comprendere la potenzialità enorme di questi tre effetti perché ricordiamoci che fare un numero di prestigiazione non è dimostrare le proprie abilità, ma far divertire e stupire il pubblico. Non dovrà pensare a dove sia il trucco, ma rimanere sorpreso e spiazzato andando a ricordare quel momento con piacere.
Ringrazio Biagio Fasano per questo ottimo lavoro fatto con molta professionalità e passione.

... Works like this one by Biagio Fasano are important because, in addition to presenting special effects, he devotes a lot of care to the scenic and surprise effects they can have on the audience, especially if everything magical in the performance happens in their hands.
In an exhibition, the more the spectator can be a participant and "protagonist" the more the final surprise and fun will be memorable for him. Fasano presents 3 new original A.C.A.A.N. (Any Card at Any Number) effects that require no manipulation. Beware: this does not mean that they are simple effects with which to face the audience, but that their conception is so ingenious and effective that everything is based on the effect and not on hand acrobatics.
We start with the description of a pre-ordered deck (VR STack PRO - the name will be clear to you during the explanation of how to make it). ...
In Palindromic A.C.A.A.N. ... we have a subtlety because for the viewer it immediately establishes the [apparent] randomness of the whole ... On this remarkable effect is added a next step that goes to create the famous "twist" (and from these details you can understand how Fasano has carefully studied every detail that can appeal to our audience) ....
Creative A.C.A.A.N.: ... this effect is also designed so that the volunteer and the audience can see that the magician is not manipulating the deck of cards, which makes the whole thing even more amazing and astonishing ...
V.R. A.C.A.A.N.: ...if the performer is suspected of manipulating the cards, the volunteer knows that it is he who will decide the order of the cards... Having decided on a NUMBER and a CARD, the spectator... when he reaches the card in the position corresponding to that Number, will incredibly turn over the chosen CARD!
From the description alone we can understand the enormous potential of these three effects because we must remember that to perform a magic trick is not to demonstrate one's own abilities, but to entertain and amaze the audience. They will not have to think about where the trick is, but they will be surprised and displaced and will remember that moment with pleasure.

SEMPER è un piccolo gioiello adatto a tutti i maghi, vivamente consigliato a tutti perchè non solo vi darà la possibilità di apprendere in modo rapido una nuova routine, ma vi insegnerà un nuovo stack a prova di mago!
Iniziamo proprio dallo stack, prima di leggere come funziona ho provato a caprine la logica guardando la sequenza delle carte. Ovviamente senza successo! La logica è geniale e stupirà anche i maghi più esperti e da sola vale ben più del prezzo di questo ebook. Arrivando alla routine poi, è costruita molto bene ed è di forte impatto, proponendo una versione per i maghi "amatori" e una per quelli più esperti. Già la prima è di forte impatto e se presentata bene consente di stupire tutti. La versione per maghi esperti avvicina invece la performance al livello di "miracolo". Consiglio quindi questà ebook sia a chi è un mago hobbista che a chi è un professionista, sia ai cartomaghi che ai mentalisti.
Piccola nota conclusiva... questo è il terzo ebook di Biagio Fasano che leggo e sono uno meglio dell'altro, se poi unite la sua genialità matematica a quella magica di Felipe, beh, andate sul sicuro! Se avete la possibilità non lasciatevi scappare nessuna delle sue opere!

SEMPER is a little gem suitable for all magicians, no matter what level of experience you have. Highly recommended to everyone because not only will it give you the opportunity to quickly learn a new routine, but it will teach you a new magician-fooler stack!
Let me start talking about the stack. Before reading how it works I tried to understand the logic by looking at the sequence of the cards. Needles to say, I lost my time! It's magician fooling material! The logic is brilliant and will amaze even the most experienced magicians and it is by itself worth more than the price of this ebook.
Coming to the routine, it is very well built and has a strong impact, proposing a version for "amateur" and one for the more experienced magicians. The first one has already a strong impact and if presented well it can amaze everyone. I will for sure try it the first time I'll have a chance! The version for expert magicians, on the other hand, brings the performance closer to the level of "miracle", but doesn't require a level that is too high. I, therefore, recommend this ebook to both those who are hobbyist magicians and to those who are professionals, both to card magicians and mentalists.
Small final note ... this is the third ebook by Biagio Fasano that I read and they are one better than the other, if you then combine his mathematical genius with Felipe's magical one, well, it's bingo!
If you have the chance, don't miss any of their works!
